Oh My Papa, Caesar Hates me, how to Complete

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 7:10 am

Very early on, I kind of torqed off Caesar by killing his men in Nipton. Now I'm trying to do Oh My Papa and convince them not to support Caesar. The problem is I think the last link in the chain is in Caesar's tent in the main encampment and I can't get there now unless I want to kill the entire legion and hey I'm up for it but I don't think I'd survive.

So, is there another way to end this quest? If not I'm thinking I'll have to wait till I'm max level with the Chinese Stealth Suit and sneak in without my followers. Does this sound possible? Any ideas?

after you reach a certain point in the story line quest... Caesar sends a person to talk with you and grats you safe passage to come see him ;)

You don't need to go to the encampment.

Spoiler

1. Convince Papa Kahn that the Legion envoy is not friendly.
2. Convince the two chemists to withdraw support
3. Convince the Kahn at the Quarry to withdraw support

Quest completed.

I have accomplished all of that, but the quest is still open and talking to the great Khan doesn't achieve resolution.

To the other poster, it's hard to believe Caesar will offer me safe passage after being vilified and wiping out his Nipton and Nelson contingents (not to mention killing them whenever I see them).

It might be hard to believe, but it still happens and makes sense within context of the story (or at least some sense, anyways).

What does the quest log say?

Is the quest log actually telling you to go to Caesar for some reason or are you getting that off the wiki? Did you get the note from the Legion ambassador's chest?

He probably needs to convince the fourth advisor - the guy who gives you the quest in the first place. To do that, you need to go to the Encampment. I think you might also be able to show him the Legion guy at the Khan's tent's diary or something, but I'm not sure if that's him or Papa Khan.

The quest log just says convince Regis with evidence. I have the diary and tried looking for a dialog option with him to use it but no dice. I outed the advisor with speech checks so I didn't need to use the diary. Tried talking to Papa and he just says some of his advisors have doubts about the alliance but that is all.

Ok, that was probably the issue. This quest has a bug where the Speech check doesn't actually help. From the Wiki:

If you use speech to discredit Karl or convince Papa once the four Khans agree to break away from Caesar, you will be unable to complete the mission, and For The Republic II, it will say you've killed all the Great Khans.

We're supposed to be getting a patch soon, maybe this quest is among those fixes.

unfortunately I ended up killing Caesar's "boat guy" and now cannot get to his camp. Is there other way including" cheats" to crossover to his location? Please help !

How are you getting there? If by boat then it must be a bug cause the Legion hated me but still allowed me to go there and hang for a bit. If it is by fast travel that could be the problem as I do recall there being some talking at the gate and taking of weapons and the chip. Maybe they attack cause you bypassed this part.
