[Spoilers] Oh My Papa

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 2:07 am

No quest marker for The Fort. Karl's journal not enough evidence to convince Regis to talk to his father about the Khans allying with the NCR. Not able to reach The Fort by ferry anyway since I can't find the ferryman in Cottonwood Cove (maybe he's not always there? One can hope).

I suppose I could just go ahead and kill Papa Khan. But I don't want to, as it will kill the other quest he's required for, that I haven't started yet. Anyone encountered this, or found a solution? Anyone know if going to The Fort anyway and getting Caesar's ledger would work?

Not a glitch. You're missing the ferry marker.

If there is no quest marker for the ferry, explain how this is not a glitch. Does it come and go?

Yeah I can't find Mellisa either, I guess you need to know before hand to convince her to speak against the Legion before delivering the package to her... oh well you'll know what to do when you play though it again in a month or two with Bethesda finally decides to fix their game.

I couldn't find Melissa, so I got impatient and killed Papa Khan.

If you give her her package, she despawns. If you haven't given her the package yet, she may have been killed by the Deathclaws, kind of like the Doctor in the Fire Ant quest from Fallout 3.

Spoiler

The Ferry Marker should be invisible until you reach the end of the dock at Cottonwood Cove. You don't literally see a ferry (unlike in FO3)

Hm I'll try again later. Where is the ferryman (can't remember his name right now)? I've literally scoured Cottonwood Cove to no avail.

Instead of entering the boathouse turn left at the end of the dock. Marker appears as "a) to travel to The Fort" unless you've bugged.

Yep... not there. Oh welll so much for yet another quest.

SOLUTION: Obsidian are idiots. The way this game works, apparently, is that some things are impossible to do until they become activated by another in-game event... even if they are necessary in order to complete a quest. In this case, you can't reach The Fort until you are invited there by Caesar, so don't bother starting For the Republic Part 2 until you have been invited, you'll just get angry and frustrated.
