Papyrus Scripting tools working?

Post » Sun Jun 17, 2012 3:42 pm

So I've been trying to figure out how to do scripting with papyrus and I decided to write out a script with notepad++ and when I open the CK and click gameplay and compile papyrus scripts I get an error that says

Unable to Launch Compiler.

so whats the deal the program isn't bundled with ck or....? How should I fix it?

The compiler is included with the Creation Kit. I haven't seen that error before, perhaps try validating the tool cache in Steam. You can get to that from the "Local Content" tab of the Creation Kit's properties, if I remember correctly.

Also, it's probably worth mentioning that you can compile scripts directly from http://www.creationkit.com/Notepad%2B%2B_Setup.

Thanks for the reply, but I already tried to validate the tools also when I was looking at the hello world tutorial he adds the script directly from the object he was working with if I try that I type in the script name and the description etc. then it says unable to launch compiler, but last night it was saying unable to create file. How would I compile a script with notepad++.

Sorry didn't notice you posted a link to a little compile tutorial any ideas how to fix compiling and creating scripts inside the ck?

Take a look at that link in my previous post. The Notepad++ setup details are all recorded there, including compilation directly from Notepad++.

Wow I was looking around my programs files and I looked at your notepad++ link and noticed I dont have the papyrus compile.bat or the PapyrusCompiler folder either so even if I tried to compile with notepad I would run into the same issue. Any ideas on where I could get the folder and bat? unless you have it and can upload it.

They're bundled with the Creation Kit. Try re-downloading it again. The "Validate Local Tool Cache" option should do that for you.

*facepalm* I tried to validate the creation kit files while it was running and it said it validated successfully so I thought that wasn't the problem I closed the creation kit and tried again and bam missing 1600 files or something like that.

Thanks Cipscis
