Parathunaxx - To kill or not to kill?

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 8:27 pm

So he's committed many terrible atrocities in ancient times, yet has redeemed himself by sharing great knowledge with the greybeards and your character etc. etc and has kept his evil nature at bay. I just really don't know what to do What did you end up doing and why?

I didn't kill him. He committed those crimes 1000 years ago, and has since redeemed himself by saving the world (possibly twice), and having given mortals the power of the voice. He's been a pacifist monk for 1000 years now and has learned to control his nature.

I guess it all depends on if you believe in redemption and forgiveness as concepts as well as the belief that even evil people can turn to the side of good.

What Esbern and Delphine want isn't justice. It's pure vengeance.

I didn't, his "tyranny of the Way of the Voice" sounds like a good thing for all dragons. They might not all like this and I guess only some will accept it (probably not without a fight) but it will subdue their violent natures and dragons don't need to become extinct. Lore-wise Bethesda really dropped the ball when the Blades are so intent on killing him and not seeing the long-term. Really makes them shallow killers IMO.
Esbern and Delphine can just stuff it.

Why is this such a big deal?
Just do what you feel like and that's that!
Also, unlike real life, video games have a possibility of saving/loading, so you can always save before killing him and load if you don't like the results.
No need to make a whole thread about it.

Edit:
Not to mention that there was several threads discussing that already.

I'd suggest you save the game and then kill him. Then see what the Greybeards say about it and what the Blades offer you for the deed. Then you can decide what you want to do.
Then you reload the saved game and do not kill him. Then go around again and talk to the Greybeards and the Blades to see if you like that better.

Any moral choice is yours to make anyways so can't help on that one I think. :)

I wish there was a way we could say, "Until Paarthunax turns evil, he's under my protection. He's changed, he's on our side and if you so much as think about wanting to kill him, you can forget about it. Why? Because you'll have to fight the strongest mortal in Tamriel. Guess who? Hint: He/she's standing right in front of you."

Killed Paarthurnax.

Dragons and mortals can never coexist peacefully forever, and to protect the lives of the current and future generations, dragonkin has to go.

Paarthurnax has more than earned his forgiveness for saving the world twice, but he's still a dragon, still a dovah.

With Alduin gone, his threat level finally overlapses that of his usefulness.

It's not fun having to put down a friend like that, even though it's necessary :(
