passing 30 in game days...

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:16 pm

there needs to be an option patched in to pass 30 days at once, thus cleaning up all the cells and speeding up performance to be closer to the games start.

there are still little messes about the land, and avoiding a cell for 28 days is really hard.

but i just passed a month resting, and the ash piles in riften that woouldn't go away are gone and it's running smoother.

only problem being it took me like 15 minutes of:

-hitting x
-then r2 7 times
-then x again
-then waiting 24 seconds
-then repeating (30 ish times!)

i was ready for a nap afterwards...

until performance issues are solved to a larger degree (i doubt fully fixed will ever happen) this option would at least allow for me to hit x and leave it skipping to clean up the whole world at once when things start to get slow.

I think it would be nice to edit the save file. You know, some sort of optimizer, much like we use on a hard drive to clear out temporary files and such. After all, do we really need to see that ash pile after we've looted it and left the cell? Or find iron arrows some hunter within eyesight was shooting at a fox? Or the splotches on the rocks from a cyromancer's frost bolts? Think of every bit of "change" we affect the world with. Some things are obviously worth recording, such as clearing a cell or killing a named mob, but just because I kicked a deer skull to the side of the road the save file grows again.

It is already bad enough that console players view us in bad light, don't make it worse with this [censored].

So we should pander to there needs?
We shouldn't post anything up that isn't vanilla in case we upset a bitter console player?
Nah, this is a forum, for discussions, not a little tea party where everyone needs to be looked after.
If a consoler hates PC players, no matter what we say we ain't going to change his mind about it. Mostly it's just bitterness over the modding situation anyway.
The PC is just better, there is no test that the xbox/ps3 would beat the PC in. Anyone who says otherwise aren't aware of several things.

Moving on, thank god for WiS blood coins! :)

Instead of waiting for 30 days in one area, why not move on to the next area and start clearing that, then in 30 days return to the first place, maybe it respawned for you.

The funny thing about this is cross-platform gaming. Some people wanted to do it, but the best console players got beaten so badly by average PC players, that it was practically never heard of again. Valve removed it from CS:GO as well and I don't believe the story they told about it, they just realized, that on the PC you have far better control so playing as a XBox-player on a server with PC players would be suicide. ;)

@OP

I don't know which game version is the newest on consoles, but the 1.4.27 patch on the PC set the respawn time down to 10 days (which actually is great for alchemists as well). So you might just have to wait for clearance by Microsoft/Sony for the next patch.

Yeah I get that it was joking, obviously anything said on a forum isn't to be taken with extreme seriousness. Although some people..

It just gets on my nipbles that PC users are essentially walking on eggshells in case we upset a console player with our talk of mods and general game fixes.
A true gamer will realise that his xbox/ps3 isn't up to par, and get a PC. (I did, never regretted it, I kinda feel sorry for my xbox though, it only has Forza going for it these days haha)

You can't really call them not 'true' gamers, that's subjective. We just embrace it as a hobby and are willing to use it as a time and money sink, others are more casual or don't have money. Or have friends.

Okay, an "educated" gamer? :P

Anyway, I ain't posting on this subject anymore as it's already off topic enough as it is haha. The OP got his answers, we had a fun few minutes, time to lay down and die. :)

Thank you, Capt. Obvious
I prefer TES with mods as well, but considering I am waiting to build an optimal computer for when I go (and return from) boot camp, I enjoy it well enough on PS3

As a former power PC gamer now on PS3... I can tell you that it's jealousy that provokes people into flaming PC'ers. Some fixes for games, this one in particular, are so easy on PC, you change one value in the .ini file and something is fixed. If it's that easy on PC could it be that hard to patch for consoles, c,mon.

So some of the frustration aimed at you guys is meant for BETH. They told us in such fauning ways how this time things would be different for console versions and especially PS3.

A lot of us feel very left out in the cold. Then BETH gives you free content and Mr. Howard says..."We knew before release that we were going to support it in a larger way, with lots of updates every month. We knew we wanted to do more stuff to bring mods to people."

..."mods to people." Mods infers PC Players... so what are we to Mr. Howard? It seems not "people".

It's things like this that make console players miffed. They are small, I'll admit, but like glitches in the game, they add up over time. Then when someone comes to the boards frustrated after spending hours on USEP.wiki and Google to try to solve their problem and someone from PC community glibly says... "there's a mod for that"... well you just want to kick a puppy.

So PC'ers try not to take it personally, even if we seem to. After all we are all trying to enjoy the game.

There is a tip I can give you, if your on the xbox (dunno if it works on the PS3) but when you select WAIT press the xbox button in the middle of the controller (so directly after you press the button to confirm how many hours you want to rest)
If done properly time will pass by much faster then normal.

I remember doing a glitch similar to this on Oblivion on Xbox360, but that was just for removing the wait box so I could watch the world change around me in full screen haha.

it goes both ways man. I try not to mention being on xbox too often because so many pc people treat us like call of duty addicted apes. And blaming us for the games shortcomings with the infamous "console limitations" line. And rubbing mods in our face to make up for this loss. I personally play on the box cause I can't afford a new computer. I want one I'll be able to play the next TES on, so its gotta be good. And I don't play any other games, even on xbox.

We do beat you guys at one thing though. There's no desktop to crash to :D

I have both xbox and PC. ;)
I am yet to experience a CTD that wasn't brought on by a mod. :P

But I do get what you mean, at the end of the day we all play the same game, so there is no point to argue really, we all have what we have, nothing more, nothing less.

Surely thats down to control scheme , the mouse is better and more precise than xbox/ps3 pad?

You would think, but I use xbox controller on PC simply because the mouse+keyboard feels wrong to game with, and because I am better at archery with the joystick.
With enough practice, any control scheme can be used competitively.
Some of the guys who play BF3 and MW3 on xbox are just too good, no scoping, jump 360 no scope headshot. They are just aliens. :P
So for the "best" to be trampled by "average" PC players, something is seriously up.

Don't take it out on Beth! That there are no Mods/Ini-changes/more small patches for the consoles is the "fault"/business policy of the manufacturers. And the buyers are the ones to blame for them getting away with such policies!

If you wish to feign superiority, please clean up your grammar.... their not "there", and isn't not "aren't". Also the gender bias, using "his" as opposed to the less specific "their' - what there are no female gamers...?

I could care less what people play on, but trashing someone simply because they use something you don't? Really - that is low.

I do envy PC players for the mods they have to improve the game, but I'm not going to change my ways. I have a comfortable setup with my xbox in the living room. But dang, I do wish for all those PC perks at times!
