I really enjoy having companions along for the company, but they're really taking the fun out of the experience.

I set them to passive, but when something goes to attack me (whether I've begun to fight back or not) my companions go ahead and attack anyways. I also tell them to use tactics they're not as proficient at.

They're incredibly overpowered, and normally kill things before I get a chance to get a shot off or even see them coming.

Does anyone have any idea how I can make them tag along, but not actually participate in the fights whatsoever?
