Past the Mountain range

Post » Tue May 24, 2011 5:13 pm

I was wondering how to get past the mountain range in the lower left hand corner of the map.

I saw there was a locked gate at the back of Mojave Outpost, is this the way past? Either that, or my friend was talking about a mountain pass he found.

are any of these correct? a simple yes/no answer please, or at least, no spoilers :D

No, I'm pretty sure there's no way to get past that mountain range.

Youve gotta be joking. thats a HUGE chunk of the map they just closed off from us for absolutly no reason.

Best bet would be they reserved it for DLC.

Im not normally one to complain about dlc, i love the stuff, but they should keep it the way they did it in fallout 3.

If they dont release dlc that lets you go past the mountain range, wtf did they cut off about a sixth of the game map for?

How do you know it was for no reason?

Measuring by map size makes no sense. It's the content in the area you have, not the map size. Would you be happy if it was opened up but nothing in it? The game has plenty of content, far more quests than Fallout 3.

I don't think the argument is really that the FONV is devoid of content. I love the detail gone into the game.

It's simply that the map was designed to suggest a great deal MORE area than there actually is. If you like to explore, you're kind of taunted by this giant expanse of nothingness that you can't get to but you KNOW it's there. If they were not planning on doing anything with it, it should not have been included in the viewable map in the Pip Boy.

I will wait to see what they do with the first 1 or 2 DLC packs, but after that, I'm gonna consider the area fair game for modding.

I personally was a little disappointed by the way that the game attempts to make you run a very linear path. I know that's Obsidian's doing to ensure that the story gets presented in a non-glitchy way that makes sense, but it still bugs me that I'm still pretty much ushered along the road to New Vegas by way of Invisible Freaking Walls and mysteriously locked gates. <.<

You can get past it, but theres just a barren landscape which looks like a perfect placeholder for a DLC.

Abit further nort of the Mojave Outpost, to the west of Primm, there's a passageway blocked by a wrecked bus and other debris.
If you use the mod which cancels the annoying invisible walls, you can easilly climb up there and enter that part of the map.
But like i said, there's absolutely nothing there except a barren landscape. No trees, debris, car wrecks. No Nada.

lame =\

ah well.

EDIT: i just ran into another invisible wall up near the top while trying to get to jacobstown. Methinks the entire edge of the map is the same way.
Its crap if so... really really crap.

I strongly suggest looking for the mod that removes invisible walls, on Nexus.
Think it's called IIWR (Irritating, Invisible, Wall, Remover).
It makes a huge difference, if not for reaching "locked" areas, then atleast for the overall feel of being able to explore.

I hate invisible walls too. But I'd rather they use an abstract shape like a mountain to define a perimeter than an glass wall or a warning that I can't continue in that direction.

I too thought that the Mountain Pass with the wrecked bus and the Mojave Outpost would open up as you progressed through the MQ. But from reading on here all the different threads about "wasted" space I'm kind of saddened by this. I hope the DLC will open these areas up.
