Patch, FIX or what?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 6:47 am

After playing or rather trying to play this game for over a month now, I am still waiting for a patch to fix the CTDs. When will this ever happen? After reading all of the posts related to this problem I KNOW I am NOT the only one experiencing this problem. I think that if enough people would write to the FTC with a complaint about this maybe then Bethesda and Obsidian would get together and provide the FIX for this problem. I hate having to repeat all the things over and over again just to get anything done.

Dude, a holiday long weekend just ended, I doubt anything would be released on Thanksgiving weekend.

Besides, Steam was/is having a holiday weekend sale and may not have wanted to approve a major patch while they are on a high-bandwidth weekend already.

Hopefully it should be out this week, but probably not before tomorrow night or Wednesday.

You might not know this, but this forum is for player-to-player support, so if you are here to try and get some help in order to maybe get your game up and running, then please post your DXdiag, and I am sure someone will have a look at it and try to help.

If you are not interested in getting help, might I suggest to take your rant to the general discussion forum, in order to keep the PC Issues forum as clutter free as possible for the players trying to look for solutions to their problems?

Thanks.

So you're a little upset too that the big news since the 11/10/2010 patch is Disco Wasteland? I really expected the patch to be out today. I've been waiting 3 weeks for this patch and I don't even have any problems with my game.

OK, I am going to say this just one. As I am tried of Hearing this is a player to player forum. Yes, the primary purpose of this forum is Player to Player Help. Yes, Obsidian and Bethesda do have their own contact points.

However,

If you think that Obsidian or Bethesda Reps never come to this forum, you have been sniffing to many battle cattle farts !

Which holidays, since Egosoft is German? And are they ever multi gigabyte and likely to be jumped on by tens of thousands of people at once?

Here's some food for thought: one of the more irritating aspects of patching is when one thing is fixed but two more are broken. There are two ways of finding these new broken items. One is to release the patch and see what people complain about now, and the other is to do some testing -before- releasing the patch. Add in the fun of replicating bugs based on the decidedly limited information usually available, continuing work on things not yet resolved and the list of new 'features' to be implemented that didn't make it before the release date, and a bit of a wait doesn't seem so odd.

As far as anything else goes, don't whine. Quicksave is your friend. A CTD isn't the only thing that can screw up your game, so you don't have an excuse not to save regularly.

I think people missed where you posted your info in the original thread since nobody responded after that. I bumped it back up for you and gave a few suggestions - though I'm sure by now you've already tried those.

Hopefully someone a little more knowledgeable takes a peek too.
