Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 6:15 pm

Ok so I have the game for ps3 and everything has be good up till now...im over 40hrs in and just now getting the hard freezes. Just now i had three in one night with like maybe 20mins in between.....before then i had like maybe 1 for like every 3 or 4 hrs of gaming....so i was wanting to know is the patch 1.3 even worth trying out? I do not have any patches never downloaded them when i heard everybody was having problems with 1.2....So what Im asking is do you guys think i should update? And has the new patch worked for you in anyway or should i just wait till 1.4? thanks guys and gals.

1st.

You need to start a brand new character to maximize the effect of the smaller saves introduced with the patches.

2nd.

You can still play your old character but will probably always have the lag when play time exceeds a couple hours, these always require full resets. To minimize these you need to turn off all hardware acceleration under Game and Video settings, sign out of PSN and limit your time in the XMB.

3rd.

Similar to tapping shift 5 times for sticky keys on the PC (Which literally slaps your computer out of similar instances) hold down the PS button as if you were turning off the system or controller and then hit circle to back out.

-----

I have well over 100 hours on 4 characters, they all play pretty good with the same minor hiccups that occur on all platforms. My first character just has to restart every few hours, and really I always use the first character to explore and find out what things I shouldn't screw up. I'm fully patched and everything works fine, there are definitely people that have issues.

I've tried to duplicate the problems on 5 different PS3's, and all problems seem to focus on the fact that people are stuck on their first character and refuse to create a new save. If you are adamant about keeping the same character, you are going to have to restart every few hours. Don't wait for it to death lag, just restart when things start slowing down.

I am enjoying the patch, idk about you guys. When my game starts to freeze and lag, I save and restart my ps3, or let it cool down for a bit. Turn it on after a break, and its good to go. I have 140 hours, and only a handful of hard shutdowns.

Fixed the majority of the problems for me. Unstable with large chars - as in my 13MB save froze once every two or three hours. My new character has frozen once in 8 hours. It's not perfect, but it's a big step forward.

Seriously? So I have no hope that my first character whom I like enough to have never wanted to restart will always be crippled by lag? That's swell.

I'd just put the game on the shelf and come back, prepared to start a new character, when all the dust settles (presuming it ever gets settled)

If you're willing to put up with the issues, I'm not sure if unpatched or 1.3 is better. If you had 1.2 it'd be an easy call, get 1.3 - if you've never patched, check the patch notes and see if anything "fixed" is something you're concerned about.

My PS3 game is only at Level 18 so my file size never got large enough to see if I'd experience the problems others have had. The only problem I saw in my game before the 1.3 patch was the backwards-flying dragon at Bonestrewn Crest. I just downloaded the 1.3 patch this morning and fast-traveled to Bonestrewn Crest and the dragon was completely normal and a good fighter. I'd have to say get the patch. I've never seen anyone say things got worse unless they've said it in the bugs forum. I hope it's good for you. I know there will be more patches in January so the PS3 version will be in better shape.

You...are...not...crippled. Long playtimes will require a restart, you have to be proactive.

If you're only going to make one character, lets be honest here, you're not playing Skyrim right anyway.

Quit being hyperbolic.

Actually, the file is quite crippled by lag. It does not require long play times; the instant the character hits exterior cells I get extremely choppy stop-and-go framerate.

You are not entitled to tell anyway what the proper way to play Skyrim is. My intention is not to never create a new character. However, the very first character I created just happens to be one I quite enjoyed playing and I do not wish to restart simply to be able to play the game.

Quit being an ass.

I've never had framedips or anything, every single update has helped, infact, this last update killed loading times, Every loading screen is literally half a second on my ps3, and then I'm in/out/whatever, as well as fixed a few minor issues.
