Patch Release Questions

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 5:01 am

GStaff, et all

1. Is it possible to put a new (pinned) post up when patches are released, instead of burying that information at the end of a thread dated 1 December 2011 (Skyrim - what we're working on)?

Nice big letters in the subject line, i.e., PATCH 1.4 WILL BE RELEASED AT 1500 EST ON 1 FEBRUARY 2012.

That's 3 pm for ...., oh never mind lol.

2. Can patches be released with a built-in option whether or not to download/install it. I intended to wait out the beta version, and possibly a few days more afterwards to make sure I'm not patching another "dragon flying backwards" patch into my game.

Instead, last night, while browsing the forum, I discover not only has the patch been released (I would have gone off-line with Steam for a week or so before installing), but my game already patched to 1.4.

I guess I'll find out today whether or not there are any problems.

Thanks for considering this.

First http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1341190-patch-14-unofficial-topic-4-with-changelog/. Second the option for automatic patching or not depends on your steam settings, you'll have to change them.

Thanks for the help.

Found where to turn automatic updating off - that wasn't easily to find lol.

Regarding your link, I don't check current forums like General for patch info because threads float around and could be on page two very fast.

It would be much better if those threads were pinned - that's normally the first place I like to look.

I'll try to be more pro-active in the future, but still think Bethesda can provide better support regarding patch releases.

The VERY FIRST thread in the general discussions is exactly what you are asking for. And if you are not willing to scroll thru and read it then that is your deal. If you're so scared of the patches then you should have been searching your steam option long before this patch was available. All the tools are there at your disposal and it is up to you to use them.
