patched messed with my bookshelfs.

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 6:23 pm

so, theres this infinite xp glitch with the ogmus infinium book you get after a certain quest.

i only do this when im very close to leveling up anyway and dont want to wait another hour o fill up the bar, i dont use this to boost myself up 10 levels at a time.

but you need a book shelf in order to make it work... but after i do the glitch, the bookshelf no longer works afterwards. so, i tried it with the next shelf, did the glitch, bookshelf no longer works.. on to the next book shelf on the other side of the house, did the glitch, book shelf no longer works. its a heavy price to pay if you like to collect specific books related to the quests you take.

this is my second playthrough so its not generally ruining the game for me, but before the patch, i could do this all day on a single bookshelf.

can anyone else confirm this?

iv also heard reports on other forum sites that bookshelfs are no longer use-able after doing other things with them other than this specific glitch.

Just delete the patch and really it's your own fault for downloading the patch when bethesda likes to patch the pointless stuff when they could be working on the big stuff.

patches are supposed to fix things, not make them worse. why does bethesda not care about that?

Guys...

The Oghma Infinium is supposed to be a one-hit wonder. You aren't supposed to be able to infinitely use the damn thing.

Did you really expect them to do nothing about it???

They aren't required to tell you everything that they fix. Just what they think is worth mentioning.

I don't know if they were trying to patch that glitch or something, but I don't even have that book yet and my bookshelves don't work in my houses after I use them once. Now I have partially filled bookshelves that I can't use or even read the books that are in them. It's really irritating and I just want to make my place look nicer with filled bookshelves.

ok that, i never understood. t seems like complete [censored] and a giant middle finger to the face that they can send out patches, and not even tell you what they do.

I don't know how long you folks have been playing major computer/video games, but here are some facts of life regarding patches.

Developers have a priority for what goes in a patch:

First they try to get in everything they couldn't get in before release. Sometimes that takes more than one patch.

Next they try to fix the things that were broken on release

Next they will address user complaints. (This is always last. ANYthing you can think of will come before this. Sometimes Devs never get to this.)

Another fact of life: Patches always, let me repeat this, always break something else. There's no way around it. There is almost no play-testing of patches. Sometimes it takes several patches to get everything working. Some things are never fixed (Beth is notorious for this.)

thats unacceptable reasoning. bethesda always gets away with ignoring all the major issues with every game they release since oblivion, that includes fallout. its because of consumers with the same mind set like you that bethesda thinks its ok to overlook stuff. even if it takes a long time. (thats ok, im patient) all complaints by the millions of players and fans that report bugs and things that NEED to be fixed, bethesda ignores them for the most part.. inablitiy to use a bookshelf, wich is such a small thing, shouldnt be broken at all,, is unacceptable. but yet again, bethesda will get away with it. like they always do.

So you're mad because you can't use a glitch to boost yourself anymore?

How do you do this glitch? I also have the book and have not used it yet.

I would love to do this on a new character just to level them up high enough to craft certain armor to see how that specific race looks like while wearing that armor, since I play on Xbox and can't use "showracemenu"

Hmm; I will try to test my bookshelves. I haven't really used them in awhile since they are all full of books (never more than 1 copy and all alphabetical). So I haven't used them after I placed all my books.

I also haven't gotten the Infininum yet either.

I don't understand the point of fixing this glitch, it was the only way PS3 and X-Box Users go to 81 without any hassle. I mean PC users can just use console cheats and bam! Instant 81, money, etc... should've left this cheat IMHO. Oh wellz... svck for you Ps3 and 360 users =\

Oh I'm sorry, let me get my magic internet wand and fix that for you. Ya svcks for you, nothing much can be done about it until the next patch, it's basically a minor glitch/bug and devs or whatever aren't going to be focusing on it much. I suggest just storing in your books in your chests/wardrobes/barrels/etc until it's fixed.

this bug is the result of the patch. bethesda is just going to make other things that are just fine, much like this one was, worse with their patches. and you dont have to be so ignorant.

I can't stop reading the new posts in this thread. This is classic. I'm pretty sure it's not anyone's' fault here that you are having difficulty now that the new patch came out (and I think we can all reason that the patch did ruin your bookshelves). I would test it for you but I think we all know what the answer would be.

My suggestion is to buy the cheapest possible books, jam your shelves full of them for decorating purposes, and keep the books you actually want to be able to access somewhere else.

I'm keeping the rest of my comments to myself out of respect, that's how I roll.
