I think that there should be pawn shops/loan sharks in either Freeside or one of the settlements surrounding the strip. All we do is buy and sell to vendors and that's that. If we were low on caps and really didn't want to sell a unique weapon but could pawn it, that would work out or get a loan if caps but have to pay it back with interest or have a hit put out on you. Tell ne what you think or what would be a good addition to the game.

The FONV community could mod a building, a merchant, and script him or her as a possible NPC or quest giver ~and pick from volunteers for the voice.

Imagine crafting the shop in Book of Eli. (A secondary mod could be recharging energy cells, and have it work like the ammo casings).

Great place for a quest hub.

True, vendors do act like pawn shops but loan sharks might be good, I mean it is Vegas after all

Wouldn't know... The only Energy weapon I have played was the recharger rifle.

You can be a loan shark if you work for the Atomic Wrangler. They'll ask you to do a little debt collecting.

On topic: I think there was mod like this for Fallout 3, I think. I can't find it right now.

The Atomic Wrangler quest is just that,a quest, once you complete it it's over. I am talking about a place you can keep going back to if you wanted to. Also, it would be nice if you could buy sone stuff at a pawn shop that sone NCR troops brought from California and pawned fir caps to get chips/drunk on the strip.

There is a pawn shop in Westside, although it may not be quite what you're looking for.

Well, I don't think loan sharks would work well in the wasteland. Even in the relatively civilized New Vegas. Maybe in the more controlled area of NCR California... See, to stay in business, people have to actually pay the loan shark's back. Otherwise they are just giving caps away. Considering that most people in Vegas are going to hit up a shark because they think they've got a sure thing in a casino... Well it's hard to collect from a broke homeless person... And that doesn't count the people who will deliberately just skip out. You might higher bounty hunters to go after them.. but that's still cutting your profits. And it doesn't help if the person winds up getting killed out there. It's a dangerous wasteland. Even in the 'civilized' area you have to worry about thugs and murderers.

As far as pawn shops go... It could work and you could make money.. but in some sense all merchants are going to act like pawn shops. They just don't keep your stuff around for long if you don't buy it back quickly.

I would abuse the "Lone Shark" idea.

-Take out big loan.
-Default on said loan.
-Kill the clowns coming to break my kneecaps
-Loot and sell their stuff.

There are pros and cons to the loan sharks but at least there be a different reason fir someone to come after you instead of aligning with a certain faction. If you abuse it too much they could give you less caps and have high ranking guys come at you or heavily armored guys come at you. Also if you kill them and loot them to sell your stuff that's fine but same you go against 4 heavily armored guys and they kill you once you die it auto saves and you come back with nothing, adding another challenge. If you pay it back you get bigger loans with less interest. As for the hiring people, the collectors work fir the loan shark anyways and if they kill you you lack of items us the payment of the loan.
