[REQ?] Perception Affects Accuracy

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:13 pm

If http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Perception#Fallout:_New_Vegas holds any truth to it, then what the machine says in the beginning is a lie.

Anyway, I hope that is not true, but if it is, I would like to request a mod that adds the ability for Perception to affect a player's accuracy.

Something like http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7836, but without the need for FOSE if at all possible. And with the ability to affect accuracy outside of VATS.

If FOSE is REALLY required, then I guess I can wait it out a bit longer... :sadvaultboy:

Bubbly did this, without FOSE, for FO3. So if needed, I can easily recreate the effect for Bubbly New Vegas*

*this is not what it will be called

If the game says it affects accuracy it would be strange if it didn't... A bug, maybe?

Well, the vigor tester machine says it affects accuracy, but the description in the G.E.C.K. says otherwise.

It's like how it says Charisma affects companions, yet you can only have one human and one non-human companion at all times.

Perception currently doesn't seem to have any effect on accuracy. I can hit at bottle at 20 paces at 1 PER, just as easily as I can at 10 PER.

If this is not corrected in a patch, I'll likely add it to my Tweaks.

Seeing as this was missed in the previous patches, and seeing how it's a pretty big oversight to not realize, I think we can assume that it was intentional to leave Perception this way. So unless Obsidian decides to include it in some sort of update (which they have been known for throwing extra additions in with their patches), then I'd say go ahead and add that to your realism tweaks, Arwen. I for one would be very grateful and it would actually seal the deal on me downloading the NV version of your mod even more. :)

I think I may try to contact one of the devs on the matter and see what I get from them. I'll report back here with the response I get if I even get one.

I posted in another thread on this. Testing in VATS shows no change with different Perception scores. LAICEPS will likely incorporate it just like it did in FO3.

There seem to be a lot of claims about different game features doing things they don't actually do. They obviously started with documentation and wrote code behind it, but didn't finish and didn't clean up the documentation either.
