Performance Issues

I've tried... single file fixes... and none of them have worked. The game says it should work on high and it doesn't work on low. Oh it's fine providing I don't have to fight anything but once an enemy attacks, the slowdown begins. Please help! The only mods I'm running are a very very hard mod which changes the ratios of damage and a mod that eliminates that irritating "you did a bad thing" noise.

You can't choose High Quality image settings and high density screen resolutions without having a High End video graphics card, and you have no such. Your HD 5670 is a Medium Quality card with narrow memory bandwidth (compared to High End cards). You have to reduce settings to match your hardware, or upgrade to a higher quality graphics device.

Recommended System Requirements:

* Windows XP/Vista/Win7
* Intel Core 2 Duo processor (or the equivalent AMD Phenom)
* 2 GB System RAM
* Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512MB RAM
(NVIDIA 8800 series, ATI 3800 series)
* 10 GBs of free hard drive space

But why did my NV say I should use high quality? Also, how can I get it to actually RUN on medium? I can't get it to run on low playably...

Neither will break anything in your system. Give them a try. They are quick drag-and-drop installations and you can delete them just as easily to uninstall.

I've tried the second one but I'll give the first one a try. I wasn't sure I was allowed to reference NVN. Thanks for the intel. I'll post how it went.

The 4g mod actually made it run worse. I found Game Booster on a google search which seems to do the most.

Then it is possible that theres a background process causing issues.

You could try a clean boot if you want to experiment a bit:

The key is to verify all third party apps are shutdown. You do this by using the taskmanager and verifying the non-ms services are in the disabled state.

Regarding the video card issue, I use a Radeon HD 5770, and the game runs fine and dandy at very high settings. It's not a terribly expensive card, either, so may be worth looking into. Should be about $130 for a good brand.
