Performance problem in a game on the PS3

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 10:56 pm

My mate has just bought a PS3, as well as a 42" Phillips LCD television, but we've got a small problem.

We're playing Fifa Soccer 12 and we're experiencing mini stuttering and ball trails sometimes. It is not playing very smoothly as is to be expected from a console. On the other hand, we also tried Gran Turismo 5 and it plays perfectly.

Now, we set options such as upscaling and smoothing to off in the ps3 settings menu, and as for the resolution it's set to automatic (a choice between 1080i and 1080p). However, Fifa only supports up to 720p. We did try changing some settings but it didn't really work out, everything stayed the same. Obviously, the TV is connected with an HDMI cable.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? Is it happening to anyone else with Fifa 12? Solutions?

Thank you.

(I'm not sure if this prorb was ps3 specific, it was the system we were using gat'the time)

The first console patch will arrive in the next days, tell him to update immediately when it's released.
