Perk points and future DLC's - BETHESDA ASSISTANCE REQUIRED

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:07 am

Hello everyone, I'm new here and I started this topic as a result of my personal reflections. I have level 60 now and as I was thinking about my character's development, I got something really disturbing on my mind. I've heard some rumours about new perks in the future updates to game, and here's the thing - assuming that i will reach out max level (81) and therefore use all perk points available in the game BEFORE new DLC comes out, how will I be able to check out and use NEW perks? Only now I have sacrificed nearly 200 hours on my character, created legendary equipment, aquired huge wealth and properties in every province of Skyrim, explored a lot more than half of the world (and I still have a lot to do) and I can't even imagine to start new game later in order to enjoy these new, better perks. I don't want to use cheats either, so I would greatly appreciate any news from someone in Bethesda who can tell me something valuable in this subject, so I can at least be sure to save some perk points for later use if there won't be any other choice.

Kind regards,
Matt_90

You can role play that your character died and start over, that's what some people do often all the time for no good apparent reason.

I thought I explained it quite clearly - I don't want to start a new character, I want my current one to go through all future updates. Anyone competent can help me, please?

My advice is make a second save of your character and keep it safe. That way when and if an expansion comes out with new perks your second save is only 21 levels behind so you can grow from there and try out the new perks. My only other advice is to hoard all your perk points from now on till you are lvl 81 then make a second save to use when the an expansion with new perks comes out.

It's possible that they would add in some sort of perk re-assignment potion with the new perks. No gaurantees, but I'd say it's relatively likely, it's what I'd do if I were them.

First off I already started over from a level 30, 50 and 20 character so far around 40 again to come up with a build I like so who cares anymore.

The PC already had infinite perks to begin with from moding, that would've been nice.

This is an old thread.

If Beth ever did add new perks to DLC I'm sure there would also be a perk re-spec option.

Where did the rumor originate from? (how reliable is it, as a rumor (which is usually 0% reliable?)

They wouldn't include new perks without increasing the ability to gain perk points. This can either be done via:

1. Raise skill limit to 150, new ranks SSJ and SSJ2. Add new perks across the board. Problem is their nice little perk tree shape does not match their constellations shape anymore. (Same problem for mods)
2. Add more skills such as unarmored or hand to hand so you can train, level and acquire perk points.
3. Perk points as quest reward.
4. Purchasable Perk Reset.

I don't know, but I haven't seen anything implying this in any of the official DLC press-releases so I believe it is a rumor based on the fact that Broken Steel and the New Vegas DLCs added new chosable perks.

lol theyd just raise the level cap or make them auto selectable on finishing a quest lol its not that hard to figure out... i always thought they should have a few floating star perks around the constilations that just have a lvl requirment and no prerequisite would help mix it up and would solve the problem of adding perks to the star chart. They could be a bit more loose and could adress the skill sets theif mage warrior in sted of consentrating on skills. then we could have some more h2h and athletics perks.

Well they do need some form of perk resetting, im sure alot of people dont wanna start over completely just to try out other perks after putting so much time in on their current character...im sure they could add some option in for an npc in the game whos not really used for anything but show, havem give you some decent sized quest that give you the option with him to sink a good chunk of gold in to resetting your perks, also have it repeatable but only after say the length of time in game it takes for mine veins to refresh (i think its like a month of game time?

Well I'll be darned, that's the worst source of rumor ever :D Fallouts perks were entirely different than Skyrims perks, you can't just add perks into the skills in Skyrim like you can in Fallout.
