It's Personal (Weapon Idea)

Post » Mon Jul 09, 2012 7:57 pm

I had this idea while playing as a barbarian. He uses only steel weapons, and has had the same old steel battleaxe for quite some time now. I thought it would be cool if there was more of a developing bond between the warrior and his weapon. For example:

- After getting a number of kills with the same weapon, the warrior develops a level of comfortability and confidence with this weapon. This relationship could be demonstrated in-game by a very small increase in weapon speed and an increased chance of crical hits. It would appear under "active effects" as only a 2% or 3% increased weapon speed and critical hit chance at first, but very gradually increase as you pile up kills with that weapon. This way the first iron sword you picked up in Helgen could still be a very effective late-game weapon as it has "grown" with you through your adventures. You are rewarded for the time you have invested in it. You should also be able to name your weapon at some point, after a certain number of kills. A weapon should earn it's name through combat, not just at the enchanter's table. I just like the idea of having your own, more personal, weapon. Thoughts?

I, really love that idea. Though someone will come in the post and say something like "Can't be done, to much coding. Blah, blah, blah". Irritating.

That's an absolutely wicked idea. One of my characters picked up Angi's Bow early on in the game and I would've loved to hang onto it, but as she leveled up and began facing tougher enemies the bow became less of an asset and more of a liability. Angi herself played such a major part in my character's journey that she ended up marrying the woman - if only staying committed to the bow as well had been a viable option!

This is a great idea. I normally keep a weapon for the entire game and build some sentimental attachment to it into my RP. I was pretty happy to be able to craft my sword and bow from scratch, choose my ideal enchantments and name both of them. Leveling up my weapon skills and being able to improve them with Smithing meant I never needed to replace them. What you suggest would be a nice addition to what's already in the game.

hey they did it in Fable 3...and that game was crap lol like REALLY crap. Good ideas HORRIBLE implementation. I for one would love to see Bethesda's take on something like this. It would be REALLY cool for RP purposes :)

That idea is perfect. I too find myself getting attached to certain weapons and wish i could continue to use them later on.
