He's the last damn Telvanni, it destroys me to see him in jail.

Wasn't he supposed to only be in jail for a few days?

I picked the lock on his cell door and he doesn't even want to leave.

Ah yeah that's why I didn't get him arrested. Still joined the Theives just fine too.

Why is brand-shei in jail

because we framed him for theft as part of initiation into Thieves Guild

Can you still do his quest if he's in jail?

That's kind of funny because being lazy is one of the ways to avoid having him put in there in the first place. Seriously - you don't have to get him arrested. You can fail and get caught (pay your fine so be sure not to have stolen goods on you.) You can also just stand there (that one takes a while so go make yourself a sandwich) and eventually he gets tired of doing his spiel and you miss your opportunity. The guild is desperate and hard up for new blood so he begrudgingly still invites you down to the flagon to meet with the boss.

Wow, it looks like their standards have really dropped since I joined. Apparently they are letting any dragonborn yahoo into the guild nowadays...

It's ironic huh?

The last living Telvanni, the staunchest slavers in all of Tamriel, was raised by a bunch of kind Argonians.

Pretty sweet and it shows that Argonians are superior and able to forgive, no doubt if it was the other way around the Dunmer would have killed the Argonian baby.

Never been able to join the Thieves Guild in this game either because of this and all the other underhanded junk that seemed to be going on.
Perhaps I've been spoiled by the Thieves Guild in Oblivion, at least there was some sense of honour there that I could grasp, "take from the rich and give to the poor".

Skyrim's Thieves Guild is far too heartless for me, I'm afraid. Haven't even been able to do the initiation once because Brand-Shei seems like a nice guy, dammit.
One day, one day perchance I might find the ability to.

Seriously how hard is it for them to just make him actually leave jail like he is supposed to...apparently you can still join the guild even if you fail the mission, meaning you can keep Brand-Shei. Almost makes me want to restart.

I got caught putting the ring in Brand-Shei's pocket. Paid the bounty, and ran back to where Brynjolf (spelling?) was still standing. He said something about how he shouldn't have expected much from me, but then the story progressed as normal. Now I'm head of the Thieve's Guild, and Brand-Shei is still manning his usual post at the marketplace....although I still haven't gotten around to doing the quest about his past.

Just a small hint, you can find the clue about his past in a wreked ship near winterhold

He's a bloody Dunmer for Talos's sake, who cares if he rots in jail forever? *goes about kicking some more Dunmer out of Skyrim*

Why did you do the quest to join the thief's guild in the first place? e.e

It's pretty clear that if you want to join, your gonna have to screw a feel people over to get to the top.

I hope this is a joke. I swear, people are just calling Bethesda lazy for EVERYTHING.

That said, it's not like the Telvanni were saints or anything. Why can't we leave the past in the past?

No offense to Bethesda, but lazy is exactly what it is...they specifically say in dialouge he will be out in a few days, yet he's obviously not programmed to come out.
