Pick Skills?

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 9:19 am

Ive seen some posts here referring to selecting primary skills. I remember in Oblivion you got to pick race, main skill and sign. i know you can switch signs in Skyrim at those pillars, but i dont recall getting to customize my skills. Is this more "dumbing down" the game?

some would say 'yes'. i won't say it because it would start a flame war. that doesn't mean i don't think it......

Not really you choose your class by doing things rather then just saying your a mage or whatever. It's more open rather then simplified.

You just gutted you can't start off with skills as high as 50 like in oblivion and have to level everything from 15-25 upwards, is it?

Yes your "stuck" with whatever racial bonuses you choose at the start with....as you always have been.

And if you want to start playing as a pre choosen mage (although frankly thats such an obsurd archetype) you weild your flames in your hands and start toasting things like you "always" have done.

Then focus on using those skills when playing, duh.

What? No, there are no primary skills. You can play an altmer 2h warrior if you want, or an orc mage.
Some races gets a headstart with some skills, but that's it.

Nope, people are just advising that it's better to put your perk points into 2-3 skills first. Which become your primary skills and then branch off when you got master perks in them.

Atleast one of them should be damage skill and a defensive skill. If you just level up lockpicking, speech and Alchemy to 100 and your level 35 or so, your gonna be tostatos when you meet some draugr deathlords or something
