Pickpocket is not a necessity

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 1:26 am

I created more than 5 characters already and i have to say that pickpocket is not a necessity, i would say completely useless in Skyrim.

Agree...not agreed? :geek:

No skill is a necessity. All skills are choices. Pick what you want for the character you play.

Disagree, sometimes it's fun to pickpocket a few bandits' weapons and cast a few fury spells and watch the epic fight that ensues.

^ this ^

It's just a choice.
I have characters that use it, others that don't.
Just like sneak, magic, weapon skills...etc.

Nothing is necessary.

To me, it's fun. I like taking stuff from people without them knowing.

Strongly disagree. It's very helpful to get bucket loads of cash. It's one on the easiest skills to get to 100

Agree its not a neccessity.
Disagree with its being useless. Obviously useful to a thief. Poisoned is useful to an assassain. Extra Pockets is useful to anyone who likes loot.

I totally agree. It's completely pointless and useless.
I never do it, unlesss I have no choice.

You can get enough money by legal ways, or killing people.
So, as far as I can see, it is completely and utterly pointless.

Unfortunately I will have to pick 50 pockets for the trophy and platinum. So boring!
Would be more amusing if I could reverse pickpocket explosives into their pockets, like in Fallout.
But sadly you can't do that on skyrim. Shame.

But once it's done, back to ignoring it.

You can reverse pickpocket poisons onto them and kill them that way with the Poisoned perk.

The only reason I use picketpocket is to steal everyones keys. I am a keycollector and it's fun to have all keys for the entire cities.

I don't like the risk of getting caught and as such, I never use the skill.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I don't pick skills for necessity, I pick them for role-play and fun.

I have no perks in it, no gear that enhances it. and maybe 60 or so skill. I get 90% chance most of the time. So I bet with perks and/or maybe an enchantment you can steal 100%?
Anyway, worst case scenario you could use quicksave/load.

It's a choice. But it's certainly not useless. If you don't want to kill someone for what they have and you want what they have then there is certainly a use for it.

How could you include a thief type build in your game an NOT have pickpocket. There are thieves guild missions that rely on your ability to pickpocket, so that right there is a very real use for it in the game. ftw

I have a thief character, and she uses pickpocket A LOT. Especially on the roads, when she runs into fellow travelers ... She makes sure she 'relieves' them of their gold and valuables. It's also very handy to have against those forsworn briarhearts - just pickpocket that briarhearts and they'll fall dead on the ground!

Pickpocket is a necessity for taking things from many living NPCs' bodies. Therefore the statement "pickpocket is not a necessity" is false.

I agree. Only used it once for a quest in Riften, never used it since.
