I'd like some opinions on the pickpocketing skill.
How fast does it level? Does it take long to get to a decent level?

My thief character leveled it up fairly quickly, it seems to me the more expensive the item you are trying to steal the quicker you will level. And its well funny to strip everyone naked in a city so they are all wondering about in their underwear

It was the first skill I had up to 100. And I didn't grind it or anything. I just use it ALL the time. I'm a compulsive thief. I basically pick every pocket I come across, well I look in every pocket, I don't always steal stuff.

Depends when you start developing it. As an early skill, and focused, it skills up pretty fast.

Got it up to the 90s, and I don't pickpocket THAT often as well. So yeah, i'd say it levels pretty fast depending on what you're stealing.

Gems and jewelery seem to give a skill level or more each.

For me, it took quite a while to get pickpocketing to 50 (for Extra Pockets perk). Because I used to steal only lockpicks; if none in target's inventory, then a torch, ale or pie. Those didn't give a nice boost for skill leveling, so I also occasionally stole gems from rich people I don't like.

Went up pretty fast for me as well. It seems like one of the easier skills to level thankfully.

I wonder how people keep pie in their pockets without it making a mess.

It was about the only skill I never actually used.
I think I will slow it down in a mod I'm planning.
