Places you won't go to or into?

Post » Fri Jul 13, 2012 7:05 am

I've just realized that if it is not directly tied to a quest I will not go into any "Hall of the Dead". There's just something creepy about it. I have no problem going into and raiding an old tomb or dungeon but if it's in a populated town. Nope. I won't enter. Like I said, it's a superstition I've built up through my RP that my Nord will not disturb the dead of a town.

When I did the quest in Windhelm and I had to go into the Hall of the Dead to talk to what's her face about the murders I stood outside the Hall of the Dead and hoped that she would come out. Eventually, I entered but made a beeline to her, talked to her then ran back out. I honestly don't know why but I don't like them.

Anyone else have any places that you won't or are hesitant about going into or near?

Any dungeon I don't have to go to. Especially Dwemer. *prepares to be slapped with a fish*
I will check out some "recommended" non-quest dungeons, I'm just too cowardly to explore on my own.

I hate temples I guess, I went into one... People using magic to massage other people or something.
Never gonna enter one again. :bunny:

Oh yeah, I don't go into the churches either. I'll hit the shrines though. I'm not specifically tied to any one religion.

Most my characters avoid doing Daedric quests, but I never had one who avoided a certain type of place. I like the RP idea though, I may have to try it.

I try to avoid entering dungeons that most likely have spider or bears as enemies.

Frostflow Lighthouse... once was enough.

Yes, the first time I went in there was my first encounter with Chaurus and Falmer. When I first went in there and saw the blood and heard the scratching I was like, 'Nope. Not this time.' but when I got back outside I started thinking of the people that were killed and changed my mind. Went charging in there with a purpose. A purpose of vengeance with extreme prejudice.

Haelga's bunkhouse.

That's very interesting. I too will not enter any halls of the dead in towns. Dungeons and the like are fine....but out of respect for the city's dead i don't enter them at all. I like to let a city's dead R.I.P.

No temples for me either, maybe except the temple of Talos in Windhelm/Markath (although my house in Dawnstar has already a shrine to Talos outside). And no Hall of the Dead. My character respects the defunct (apart from the occasional and traditional tomb raid :) ).

Any empty, abandoned places. I'd better be surrounded by hundreds of Draugr than entering a completely silent, closed empty room.

The first time I enter Pelagius Wing the place was so silent, empty, I was very scared and my mind began thinking up some crazy things like something will pop out and jumps into my face, even at my like, 4th playthrough, I'm always scared [censored]less whenever I about to enter it.

Yup. That's how I feel. I have no problem raiding the tombs and coffers of an ancient dungeon but I will not enter a towns Hall of the Dead out of respect to their dead. Besides, every time I enter a random dungeon it's dead try to kill me. So, I figure, 'Hey, as penance for trying to kill me I'm taking every Septim I can get my hands on before I leave.'

Except that in many cases they're not R.I.P. they're up and moving and need to be put down.

I love the hall of the dead in whiterun for my new character. You activate shrine of arkay and you get extra 25 health. And you get Andur's Amulet of Arkay, which gives you another 10 health. 35 health is a big deal when you are starting out.

I never really thought about it, but yeah unless it's to do with a quest I tend to avoid the Hall of the Dead in the cities. As my main's a Nord I can justify it from the whole subconscious respect for the ancestors thing.

See, I too didn't know the dead were up and roaming in a cities Hall of the Dead.

Perhaps, when I RP a new char I won't pick a Nord and I'll be more inclined to go into them.

In a few of them, yes.

Think there's a quest for each of them but I can't remember. I have this vision of doing every side quest in the game but I ultimately get sidetracked :(

I was surprised by it too. There's even a quest in Whiterun where you have to go in and get something because the Priest won't do it due to all the... "unrest."

They are up and around in Solitude as well.

Never saw any in the other cities' Halls as far as I can remember.

I'm assuming they are just as hostile in the Hall of the Dead as a normal dungeon?
