Play as a Ghoul?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:21 pm

Should the option of being a ghoul be in FONV? Should players be able to be a ghoul from the start, or should they have the chance to become one later? Should there be a cure?

No to Cure, emphatically no. Yes to starting out as one and yes to becoming one (given that you suffer a lot of exposure to highly radioactive areas and get some kind of warning that you are at risk of becoming one)

God We have had this before.

As long as there is no going back, no cure. And as long as the Devs keep with the lore of ghouls. Judging by fallout 3 broken steel with Roamers and Reavers they wont. ghouls are slow weak ass rotting "zombies." not super beings.

We already have an active thread on this particular subject, however- Popular consensus is in the direction of no.
I personally wouldn't mind it. Not sure I'd use it.

It's rotting by the way. No big deal but seeing roating again and again is driving me crazy.

Having the character would as a ghoul we have this topic. The Devs would mess up the lore. They will add a cure and make you super stronge and let you wear power armour and carry hundreds of pounds of weight with alot of health. Everything a ghoul is not and can't do.

Hell they make you a ghoul why not a glowing ghoul? or a reaver or roamer ghoul? God I hope the last two never come back again.

anyways we have this topic going already.

I approve of everything you just listed, if only because it makes you Lore Nerds spit fire. It's really amusing.

well that's just picking a fight. I don't approve and "Lore Nerds" don't want it.

I am going to stop this with before it becomes a fight :)

OK.... you hate the idea.... So vote against it and move on. I honestly trust that the devs could find a way to work it in without screwing it up. that is... Given that they'd have to be very creative.

To be fair, there's a difference between "lore nerds" and people that would like a little consistency out of their fictional settings. I don't consider myself a "lore nerd" at all, but when a fictional setting starts becoming really inconsistent I start to lose interest in it. It becomes a fluff setting that's hard to believe and hard to feel invested in. It's nice that you don't care at all and are comfortable enough to be condescending about it, but you don't have to go around insulting people that would rather not see laser guns in Lord of the Rings. :shakehead: Some of us actually like the Fallout setting and would rather not see it ruined by adding a bunch of ridiculous fluff to it just because some people that are new to the series and care nothing about the lore might think it'd be wicked awesome to have dinosaurs.

I'll agree that some people take it too far, though. :foodndrink:

It's not that I don't care, it's that I get a little erkked with how demanding certain members of the fanbase can be over a work of fiction and virtual entertainment that should have absolutely no impact on how they live their lives. The message I want to spread is simply..."It's a video game, please loosen up and have fun with it."

There is already an active thread similar along the same line as this topic, and I am going to lock this now, before I have to start handing out warnings to a couple of you. :stare:
