Play offline: Steam

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 9:23 pm

Ive posted about this before but have yet to find a solution, when i go into offline mode Skyrim is no longer in my list of steam games and is unplayable even when run directly. The forum post stated it will be playable offline... Whats up with that?

The TESV executable should be located here:

C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Skyrim

or

C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Skyrim

Create a shortcut for TESV.exe and add it to your desktop. Use this to start the game.

I always play offline, the only problem I've had is that it sometimes fails to update your achievements correctly. It often fails to add the most recent achievement when you go back online with steam. You might try starting the game in online mode once so it can properly authorize the game. All you have to do is start the game up, then exit it and set steam to offline mode and restart the game.

I always play offline, and even if I switch online my achievements don't update anymore. Still showing 7 playtime hours (when I'm around 60) and 5 achievements or so.

The only luck ive had is to login with steam and not close it for the duration of the time with no internet, this means not rebooting rather putting the computer to sleep.

Yep, same here, start in online mode, pull the modem n play. The thing is my system is a dedicated games machine ie. win7 64bit and my games, no anti-virus, no firewalls, no itunes nothing,
clean and pure. This is why i dont want to have go online everytime i want to play.

After every update (all steam games) you must start the game at least once while online mode, then shut it off. Or just doing an integrity check of offline files, you still have to do this. And then, restart steam in offline mode and then start playing. Learned this with Mass Effect. Yes. Steam svcks, don't mention it.

lol, yep, steam does svck, but im not here to sook about steam. Ive done the updates, the cache integrity checks/defrag, the starting in online mode - restarting in offline mode, deleting of ClientRegistry.blob, rebooting win etc.
i just cant get it to work offline, its weird, ive had 1 CTD in 22hrs of play, yet if i start steam in offline mode skyrim just isnt in my games library.
