Is playing a Nord important to the story

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:29 am

Hello folks, I'm new to this so bear with me please. I'm big role player on the Pen and Paper platform. Namely Dnd. I'm enjoying the hell out of Syrim. I play it like dnd. If I die, my character is dead. it really is challenging that way. In fact, I haven't even made past level 20, and I'm on normal settings. I like elves. I currently have a high elf character level 19, but he doesn't seem too involved in the any of the storylines. I was just recently attacked by a random group of Thalmor who had a kill order on me.

My question is this. Does playing a Nord give more roleplaying scenarios than the other races. Do more doors or quests open up for you?

Thanks

No real quests open up to you, but I feel that it's more fitting to play a Nord when you do the Main Quest, Companions etc.

well the Dragonborn is suppose to be a Nord Character and also the fact that at the very beginning of the game Ralof stated "you were trying to cross the border right?" indicating it must be someone from the south of Skyrim which in the south is Cyrodiil where most races come from if you listen to the current situation in the world of Tamriel the empire is crumbling the Aldemeri Dominion is Daddy lol and the Empire is their son lol

also listen to the story on how Ralof and Ulfric stormcloak was capture if you go to that VERY place it's no where near any other province BUT the location is in the south so yeah a Nord is an important role

Not sure where you get this idea the Dragonborn is supposed to be a Nord. Thats entirely up to the player.

Not necessarily true. Reman Cyrodil was apparently Dragonborn, and he was an Imperial.

Also when I started the game, I assume Ralof meant that the Dragonborn was trying to cross into Skyrim to escape Cyrodil.

Any race can be dragonborn, I'm almost certain there's no limits on that according to lore. So no, being a Nord isn't really important to the story. But I think playing a Nord feels more "right," since the game takes place in Skyrim, meaning you're surrounded by Nordic culture. Nothing will seem wrong if you aren't a Nord, and you won't miss out on anything, but it seems like some things just make more sense if you're a Nord.

I do not think being a Nord adds anything to the story

Not that I am aware off aarduini. I've clocked up over 600 hrs of saved time plus more unsaved, and played as 3 different races (playing as my 4th an Orc) and makes no real difference to questing. You do get treated different by the people of Skyrim. Nords are well liked mostly everywhere. Elves and Dark Elves are not so, specially in Stormclock strongholds.

Playing a Nord seems special because the Nord homeland is in such distress. It probably feels a bit different if you're in the RP aspect of it.
