Playing two characters.....AT THE SAME TIME?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 12:35 pm

Is there anyone who successfully does this?

The reason for asking is that I wanted to start a new dunmer nightblade vampire in preparation for dawnguard, but I'm afraid I will completely forget and not want to play my current character because I will become abscessed with this one.

Also I am afraid that this could be the beginning of the dreaded restarting disease that my current character just cured me of.

This character has been my longest in quite a while and I don't want to just forget about him.

If you successfully play two characters at the same time any tips would be appreciated, or if anyone has any advice to give me as well.

Sounds like my real life, just the good/bad character is my wife and it changes by the minute bit the day

I cannot explain it, I just load up the toon and play and I just remember what that toon is doing in their life. As of right now I have 5 different toons going, all leading different paths in their lives and I fall into character within 2 seconds of loading their save file. I'm the same way with books though, I can start a book then walk away from it for a week or more and I still remember what I've read so far when I do pick it back up again and it seems that I'm able to do the same thing with my toons in Skyrim.

I jump between my overall favorite character, a thief/assassin, and my very offensive minded orc quite a bit. It's just nice to switch up from sneaky archery, to literally running into dungeons swinging a greatsword with reckless abandon.. I've purposely kept the Orc very simple, doesn't even own a house, because he really is only concerned with killing and drinking mead and skooma.. :) But this keeps me from getting confused as far as what things I have were, and in what drawer in what house... that's my Thief's problem... who's a bit of a hoarder..

I love playing 2 characters! I find that at about levels 10-15 it's a bit more difficult so I'll change to my higher level character and relax with better gear and more money, otherwise I get tired of always having to drink health potions and running out of money...

I'm switching between my level 49 nightingale assassin and my level 8 khajit pretty well.

Two characters.... AT THE SAME TIME?! WARGULBARGULBARAGAGAGAA-

(No but seriously if you are finding yourself constantly restarting I would just take a break and come back when the game feels fun again)

How do keep track of what you want, when you want, why you want and how you want to do across multiple characters???

It's not really that I get bored with one, it's more I really want to play the other two. I think I'll try to just make sure I play both, like ChrisPeacock, and switch each day

Go by the mood your in.... If your in a evil, i want to destroy you mood then play an evil toon. If you feel like doing a couple acts of valor then play a knightly toon.

  • I've tried to do this before, but I often find myself either going back to my High Elf Two-handed warrior or completely forgetting about him within a day.

If you successfully play two characters at the same time any tips would be appreciated, or if anyone has any advice to give me as well.

I always run at least 4 different builds. Each has a purpose and each is enjoyable for different reasons.
No one character should do it all. That's not what a Single-player TES game is about.

Base types, though not locked in to hamper oneself:

1. Male Nord Tracker/Cartographer. He lives off the land and doesn't do a single quest. Not one. Wears Light Armour and wields a 1H Axe and Bow. He also utilizes a torch for blocking. Simply roleplaying as a bystander in the province, occasionally helping a local met on the roads, charting the province as he goes. Has a penchant for freeing any and all prisoners seen, then smiting the escorts no matter who. LOVE that guy.

2. Male Bosmer Rascal/Fisherman. He's my rogue type, wearing only clothing and dual-wielding daggers. Good at heart but can't keep his mits off all those shiny baubles strewn about the world. In the Guild and does various Daedric quests.

3. Female Breton Seeker/Healer. Walking her way around the Holds, studiously making her own charts of ingredient locales. She's my College Mage build focusing on Restoration. With only enchanted robes and clothing, a dagger rests on the hip for times when those with ill-intent come too close.

4. Female Redguard Vindictor. This lass has a chip the size of Ysgramor on her shoulder. She works the MQ storyline and Companions with nary a minute to stop and take names. My tank build wielding a 2H blade.

It's YOUR game, so play it as you choose. To limit oneself is self-defeating, as is having one character do everything.
Sparse out the duties and interests and you'll always have a character ready to suit your current mood.
One person's opinion.

Play one character, and when the DLC comes out, save over one of the AUTO saves and make one version join the Dawnguard and make the other join the Vampires. I know I'm doing that.

The problem I always had was my character's face.
Now some people may find this crazy, but I have Skyrim on both PC and Xbox 360. But I prefer playing on the 360. Just prefer it that way.

But anyways, so yeah. I'd get fairly far into the game
And then notice... " Hm.. I hate that scar on my character's face.. " or " Ya know.. I really should've went with that other hairstyle... "

And then I'd start over again and make a better character each time. Lol.
