I have windows 7 and want to use the xbox360 controller. Is there a patch or an update which will allow this?

either make sure you have the xbox360 cable that allows it to communicate with the computer... (wired controller version) or if you have the wireless version.. more often than not.. you just need to go grab the xbox360 Wireless controller adapter. Plug it in and DONE

IIRC the USB cable that comes with the wireless controller is for charging only.

It's not very well documented, everyone seems to think it's supposed to be an interface cable.
