A plea to S.D. for Freeplay

Post » Tue Aug 30, 2011 10:24 am

Okay I'm not a noob - for some reason they system just refused to send me an e-mail when I used the "forgotten password" option after the site was hacked. I tried several times.

Anyway, why is it that the bots are so terrible in Freeplay? As it is now I have to play campaign on Hard to derive any fun out of the game, (yes I am perfectly happy playing with/against bots in Brink). When I do this the bots are actually pretty good and the missions can be very challenging. In Freeplay they are nothing more than cannon-fodder. For example Early Launch when playing as the Security on Hard can be a total nightmare, (but challenging and fun). In Freeplay you can steamroll the Resistance in just a few minutes

Is it possible to add a difficulty selector to Freeplay? This way I can still enjoy Stopwatch and other modes and not have to constantly play the campaign.

Thanks.

The fact you're playing against a good amount of bots in freeplay at all is a sad thing.
You might want to adjust your network settings.

At any rate, Freeplay was designed to be a PvP scenario, don't count on there being any difficulty sliders any time soon. Not unless we get a fully customizable game mode.

Just press the "skip" button during the cutsceans in champaign mode. It seems like you just want a few moments of "loading time" to be shaven off. Is this what you're asking SD to do?

Well no cut scenes would be nice but it's also to be able to play Stopwatch which I enjoy or to change some of the other options.

Actually I like setting up my own private bot matches when I'm feeling more misanthropic than usual, lol. Plus Hard bots are, while not as clever, more challenging than 90% of the human players I've encountered. They are 100% committed to defending and are better at it than humans who grow impatient and eventually wander off looking for kills.

No arguing that I suppose.

Also, some fine literature for you involving the multiquotes;

Yeah I never plan on quoting more than one post. It's usually later on when I decide to reply to someone else. My bad.
