a plea regarding female characters

Post » Fri Sep 16, 2011 1:30 am

as both a fan of the fallout series and as a female player who plays as female characters, i just wanted to at least express my two cents regarding them, especially regarding non-generically-human ones. i've only seen one piece of such concept art of a female -- the side-by-side sketchy greyscale image of the two ghouls from the armageddon rag -- and though it's hard to make out the detail, i'm already a little concerned. while the male is immediately recognizable both in face and by stance as a ghoul, the female -- not so much.

i'm just worried about whether the developers will enable female player characters to share the distinguishing characteristics of their "breed" (for lack of a better term) with their male counterparts. too often it seems that, however monstrous males may be, females always end up being a prettified version. whether this is done for male players who don't want to see/ogle "nasty looking" women, or for the benefit of female players who are perceived as not wanting to play unattractive characters, i'm not sure.

but it sure bums me out.

so my plea to you, gamesas, is this -- let people make their pretty people if they want, sure. but for sweet harold's sake, let my lady ghoul look like a ghoul -- hair half fallen out, rotten skin, wobbling walk, whatever ghoulhood in this upcoming game may entail, let me experience that, too. and supermutants -- keep 'em overmuscular and more or less ambiguous! i adored lily and tabith in fallout new vegas because, while wearing feminine garments and/or accessories, they were still big ugly badassed supermutants -- not like the green-skinned, vaguely muscular barbie dolls that pass for orcs, trolls, et cetera in certain other mmorpgs that shall go unmentioned.

thanks for listening -- i hope i'm not the only one who feels this way.

I'll just be happy if we get to create normal looking women that can wear armor like men do... not have 2 leather straps and a bra and it will count as a heavy armor -.-'

Also I'd like it if hair is actually... realistic on women(and men), not anime gravity defying hair. Actually, I just want looks to be realistic, not extremely beautified or anything. Image

you mean six. other than that, I guess I have to agree. if you wanna play something so hideous you can't even look at yourself in the mirror, well...... i mean, i don/t, but thats me....... Learn a habit, it’s not wise to upset a mutie.

I never got the impression from the original FOs that gamesas took to 'prettying up' the female characters, so i think we're safe.

Besides, that's what the Cat's Paw is for. "When this epoch began to wind down, the remnants of life once more ventured forth to commence the struggle for survival and dominance. This is the story of some of them" -Damnation Alley

This is where i'm gona be a fanboy and say, nah, it's gamesas. Most armor and all is gona be realistic looking, but there will be some clothing that is 'sixy'. for gods sakes I HOPE SO. i always wanted the Mis Kitty Dress and Fred Suit (as well as the blue uniforms worn by Shady Sands cops). Learn a habit, it’s not wise to upset a mutie.
