Please Beth fix it ! (for all having CTDs since newest patch

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 5:02 pm

Hi all...
read tons of your threads with nice and very good hints to improve performance and to avoid CTDs. But i can assure you those CTDs mostly are NOT your faults since i am not able to play Skyrim anymore since the newest patch came out. i dit NOT change anything..no mods, no grafikard..nothing.it works perfectly well before this (damn) patch and now i cannot even open any Save game. does not matter whether i try one of the very first or one of my last ones. as soon as a savegema starts..bang...CTD. with or without any mods enabled. with or without new created skyrim ini files..with or without anything ! so this thread might just give a little hope to all having the same issues. Lets wait for a new patch and blame it on the last one !!! :gun: :flame: :wallbash:

You have never had any mods installed during this playthrough and you can't launch the game without CTD?

Did you try Verify Integrity of Local Files?

In Steam -> Library -> Right click on Skyrim and select Properties -> Local Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Cache

The 1.5.26 update is working fine for me. Some saved games will not work cross-version; this is inevitable, but should be a rare occurrence. Most of my saved games from previous versions work. The only ones that don't are ones that are in the middle of scripted sequences such as the Unbound quest. If you could provide dxdiag info (in spoiler tags please), that might allow people to provide more useful advice if you're truly interested in solving this problem. Since the update isn't the likely cause, I doubt the next update will mysteriously fix your issue.

I am having ctds as well, usually when I fast travel to Whiterun & entering & exiting places there. I'm running the current version of the game. I updated all my drivers & such. Even started a new game & it does it. I even did what you said to try BootySweat. I'm not sure why my game hates Whiterun. Have you had this problem since the update?

I get a lot of ctds. Then i did this:

-removed all of the texture mods(e.g. skyrim 2k, skyrim flora , WATER, everything that alters terrain.)
-Deleted the 2 .ini s and let the game make a new one.
-Deleted all my previous saves from 1.0 to 1.4 patch, since 1.5 basically screws up the older patched saves, no point keeping.
-Used BOSS as a load order helper for mods

This way, i rarely get CTDS and no missing meshes. It fixes crashes and freezes for me. However if i activate one texture mod(e.g. skyrim flora overhaul), very soon i see missing meshes, getting freezes and CTD.

I get CTDS daily. Must be my mods or something, but I don't know for sure. :/

I turned off my all my mods that has esp files & loaded the game, saved then exited then reloaded and still when in Whiterun the game randomly crashes when I fast travel there or it loads and just randomly crashes when entering or exiting a building. What are yall doing when the game crashes?

Keep in mind, turning off all your mods doesn't necessarily remove their impact on your savegame.

Scripts are not stored in the esp files, and even after you disable and even delete a mod file, if that mod had scripts, it will still potentially affect your savegame. You might need to try reverting to an older savegame from before you installed the mod(s) that is (are) causing problems.

One thing that can be very helpful going forward is to make a brand new vanilla playthrough, make a hard save just after helgen and use that character to test all your mods.

I'm having a lot more CTD:s since 1.5 and they always happen when moving from interior to exterior or the opposite. The game freezes instantly when I come out/in. I have changed nothing in my installation since before the patch and I never had problems like this before. Annoying. :(

^ This QFT all up in hurr.....Do a COMPLETE(left over files, registry sweep etc.)Re-Install if all else fails as well. Always works for me when I have mod conflicts.
