I'm sure there's been many threads on this, but I have to complain. I don't understand why they can't simply tag behind me consistently. What is up that? Why are they always stopping? I'm on Xbox.. I don't have mods. Is there any special way to "walk" where they would stop doing that?

Well, Mods will fix this but since you don`t have that choice just just carry on. They eventually `teleport` to you while you are not looking.

If you appear to lose them quickly enter a cave or house and they`ll appear.

Another option is to carefully choose where you run, avoiding any rocks or such that might block the Follower`s AI pathing. But it means you`ll be going the long way around a lot of things, especially mountains.

Agreed.... They need to look into this, even if it's just a straight path with nothing in the way, they will lag behind causing you to wait for them to bloody catch up...

Your follower would rather go all the way around a mountain rather than jump down a 1 meter cliff. While a jump might do zero damage to you, or them, they will never choose to take it. If you want to keep your follower with you, you have to give up falls.
