I have a lot of stuff that I would like to stash away for later use if I need it but unlike FO3, a lot of the containers in new vegas will "respawn" and you lose all the items stored in them. As such, not knowing which is afe to put stuff in and which is not, I'm forced to carry everything around in a near encumbered state

Well if you discover/use more than one Mojave Express box, you can use those to 'post' stuff to any of the other boxes you've already discovered/used which can be used to help obliviate the perpetually encumbered state.

I never just left things in random containers in fallout 3 because they did re-spawn there was only some containers that were safe in FO3 such as the homes and a few shacks, Fallout new vegas I only store things in my home in Novac if I cant carry something Ill drop it and fast travel ditch some things then go back for it, I dont know why you want to stash things in random fridges and boxes in the wasteland.

43 hours into FNV, I've used the oven in Victor's shack in Goodsprings, never had any of my things disappear. Also I've started using the safe in the Novac hotel room that you can rent/receive.

I've used field's shack, not had a problem with anything going missing there

I have not seen a single respawn either. I'm not saying the OP is wrong, I just haven't seen it. I can also understand the frustration - why doesn't Obsidian/Bethesda just make it clear whether its safe to put things somewhere or not...

Possibly because they expect/presume gamers will have more uncommon sense. Basically the way I view containers in a game is that if they are outwith a structure you own or are speficically designated for you to store stuff in, then they are not 'safe'.

I used dustbin next to Gun Runners Vendotron in my first 40h+ game without any problems.

I dump all my crafting supplies stuff in the crates just to the right of the work bench and ammo bench in Goodsprings. 38 hours in and no problem.

Actually, with Caesar's Favor... the Vexallirius (or something like that) tells you quite clearly: "The box is emptied regularly, so do not store your stuff in there."

I've usually not stored stuff anywhere outside the places where I had the key for; it kinda screwed me up, when I lost my alien blaster because i put it in a certain locked desk - where I had the only key - only to have the entire thing replaced with four mentats!

but, yes, the Mojave Express is a great way to "store" stuff. Just send it to a box, and don't go and get it.

Ammo/grenade/mine boxed do not respawn as well as first aid boxes and safes.

Novac Motel Safe, NCR Safe House both safe...have used more than 50 game hours.

The wasteland is a harsh, cruel place where only the cunning survive. The conditions force many people to scavenge, even steal. Thus, you should watch where you place your stuff, for it's certain that some wastelander will eventually check that container and take whatever is in.

I've been using the crates between the Goodsprings Saloon and General Store with multiple characters, without ever losing anything... It's a great location, next to benches, merchants, a doctor, and a fast travel point. The only stuff I drop in houses like Lucky 38 are the wierd items that only show up in my pip-boy when I am NOT transferring to containers (Motors Helmet is a notable one). I can drop the item but not put it in boxes....
