Does anyone know how to disable the ingame music completely w/o using the sliders (that don't work properly as it is in FO3 and now this release)?? In FalloutNV_default.ini I changed music setting from 0.9 to 0.0. I also did the same thing to a few other sound files relating to music volume but they don't seem to want to "Stick" so I still have the annoying climatic and overly loud radio music when I use the Pip. I know I can turn it the pip off but I don't want any of that blaring background stuff either. I have combat PTSD and it seriously is getting on my very last nerve. Do I have to be in admin mode for changes to take effect to the ini files?? Any help would be appreciated peoples. Thank you.

If your using windows 7 or maybe vista..(I don't know anything about vista) Program file ini.'s kind of get locked. The system stores the one you can edit elsewhere.. (at least on windows 7)
Try going here.. C:/Users/[name file]/app data ((usually a hidden folder.. if so go to tools-folder options-view and check "show hidden folders"))/Local/Virtual Store/Program Files x(86) or just normal program files..
Search for your Fallout New Vegas folder and change the ini. in there. I can't be sure this is why it's not working for you because I got new vegas on xbox.. but in the past if I've had problems with ini. files this is the reason why.

Thank you. If I have to I'll just rename all the MP3 files and be done with it. Copy/paste them to a CD or DVD for future installs so I won't have to waste time renaming them all again. It's a shame as the music is kind of nice for the most part, just that the volume swells get way out of hand.

why not just turn the radio off in your pitboy?

Well, you see, that wouldn't turn off all tht other mess, the "ambient" music like the dungeon MP3 files etc and other music that drowns out NPC voices. grates on the nerves, etc. I just renamed all the files that were overly loud and kept the character files, gunshot files etc and got rid of all the music by renaming them with the exception of a few that didn't svck or weren't too loud plus added some mp3s of my own and gonna see if I can get some of my music files to work. Wouldn't have had to do all that if the ini files actually did what they were intended to do.

I should have asked before but why don't your in game volume sliders work?/ I've never had that problem.. on any game. It almost sounds like you might have your speaker/sound card settings messed up . Make sure all the goofy settings in your sound manager is turned off.. things like effects or loudness equalization or bass management being turned on can really distort the sound.. Especially loudness equalization which constantly tries to keep everything the same level. Sometimes you might even have two different sound manager programs conflicting with each other.. Just something to check out.
