Please HELP - Problems from 1.5

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 6:17 am

Here are the problems I am having since the 1.5 patch:

BAD - 1. Pixelation problems that were remedied by turning off Anti-Aliasing, which is something I really don't want to do.

WORSE - 2. Cannot fast travel anymore.

WORST - 3. Enemies don't recognize me as an enemy until I initiate combat.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get 2 and 3 to work again, I would surely appreciate it.

Just a question...Do you think it would do any good to backup my "save files" and then delete and re-download the game from Steam?

Try verify cache through steam first.

Thanks for you answer Majic7. Nothing happened. As a matter of fact, the cache verification caused the start menu to apply anit-aliasing again which caused the terrible pixelating. I just went through the entire Forsaken Cave and Forsaken Crypt with nary a Draugr even looking at me as I walked by. The wolves howled and, at least, acknowledged my presence, but it wasn't until I swung my battleaxe at them did the dot on the screen turn red to indicate an enemy.

Once I got to the surface again, I tried to fast travel just down the road. The game goes to the load screen, but only for a second, leaving me right where I was.
This is a sad turn of events, considering with the last patch (1.4), it corrupted every one of my Save Files, and I had to start the game over, because I hadn't backed any of them up. I was level 33. Now I'm back to level 10, and I can't even play the game. It's a d*amn shame.

Any other suggestions?

Do you think deleting and redownloading the game will make a difference?

OS? GPU? CPU? ..................................................... ???

Pixelation problems --> If you have AMD GPU, revert to 12.1 drivers.

A: yes. But before that delete also this 3 files (in username\my docs\mygames\Skyrim)

RendererInfo.txt
Skyrim.ini
SkyrimPrefs.ini

And launch the game again to create new ones.

BTW, do you have a d3d9.dll in Skyrim directory?

You mentioned that the AA settings you changed reverted to what they were before. That is what happens when your INI files are locked to "read only". Just a thought.

Fixed it! 1.5 corrupted my Save Files, just as 1.4 did. I used my backups, and they worked. I just decided to start the game over again though...for the third time. As far as the pixelation problem goes, I turned off anti-aliasing, and the pixels are gone. Hopefully, this will be tended to in the next patch, AND, it won't corrupt my files.
