In one of the interviews, it was said that while they wanted to allow you to continue playing after the ending, they could not make it work. It sounded like they wrote solid, definitive endings that would not work with the player being able to continue.

1. Obsidian is making it, not Bethesda.
2. It has been confirmed MANY times that the ending will be definite.
3. It will be quite clear when you reach the point of no return, the game will autosave, and you'll be allowed to pause.
4. The game is done. Been that way for a couple of weeks now. It has since moved into bugfixing mode, which likely will be just finishing mere moments before the game actually releases. Even if they wanted to change it they wouldn't. Also, I fell sorry for Valve's servers, because they're going to be very busy come release.
5. Get it on PC and download the mod that unlocks it. It happened for 3, it will happen for NV as well. And no you don't need an expensive gaming PC to run it.
