Base: Our Sun is a star, and stars don't exist forever, when they use up the gasses inside it, they'll grow into a red dwarf or something. This means that it'll grow. When the Sun becomes a red dwarf, it'll grow and engulf all 4 inner plants, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. Of course this wont happen until a few billion years, humanity can progress since then. And by then, Titan, one of Saturn's moons could become habitable. Now, anyways, back onto the Sun, when the Sun stops growing, it'll shrink into a blue dwarf, getting smaller and emitting less heat since the gasses required are exhausted which sets the story for Brink 2.
Story: When the sun becomes a Blue Dwarf, it'll become cooler, meaning that living on most planets will mean death since no heat is going that far. So for Brink 2, when the Sun becomes a Blue Dwarf, Humanity would still be around, and Titan would become un-inhabitable, but Humanity decide to build a space station around the Sun, because heat is still being emitted but at a smaller distance, the station would be close to the Sun. Heat would be gathered from arrays through out the station and energy would be produced via solar energy. After the Blue Dwarf stage, the Sun will die out, causing a nova or something. During Brink 2, the Sun is on its final thousand years and 1 side of the station which is populated by the wealthy and in control of the station will turn off all energy to the other side which is populated by the scum. Of course this'll cause a civil war which will be the main plot for Brink 2.
The basic plot is similar to Brink yes and the setting seems more far fetched than Brink yes but hey, it's possible and it could work.
