I play alot; just finished about an hour with 3 freezes. My kids got lockups leaving goodsprings earlier so newer games still play about the same for us. We have two PS3 slims with the one being purchased in March. Having duplicated many issues and trying certain things I really don't notice any changes. I have saves where Camp Forlorn and Nelson are still freeze prone and ones that don't. Kinda would like an exact bug fix list to get an idea of what was expected of the PS3's NV patch. I am not trying to be super negative or anything as I still play (NV is what I only play except for the occasional F3 or Arkham Asylum), but this game still needs a ton of work.

I know Gamebryo is old but F3 is way more stable, started another build from scratch in F3 and already level 22 with Point Lookout and Zeta done. I don't have nearly the amount of freezing compared to NV. The balancing issues for NV are fine but I wish they would focus more on stability. I will get all the DLC no matter what but expect that it will be awhile till they can really sort the issues as more DLC=more troubles and lets face it; were the ones doing post-development bug testing for them and paying for it to boot.

My followers still run away from me after exiting into the main map at random occasions. Still have the tesla beton proto eating a whole clip every shot too.

I love everything postapocalyptic...but I think if the next FO is made through Beth, I'm atleast waiting till the G.o.t.Y version is used collecting dust before I buy it. Never thought I would EVER say that...sadly they will probably just look for a new francise to devour though...

I have played games since that dag'on canyon runner type game for atari 2600 and I'm telling you this is the buggiest run of any games I have ever seen.

Well atleast it was a super game (FOnv), bugs excluded of course.

me and my roommate have been playing lots of fallout lately, i have been playing FO:NV while he has been playing FO:3. and i must say, i have been having less problems than he has. my game froze once last night, his froze 6 times in 7 hours. i havent really did any story missions yet though, ive just been wandering around unlocking places. i also think you gain experience faster on new vegas. i started playing when my roommate was level 3, taking the same amount of playing time i am now 1 level above him (19), without using the level up faster perk (forgot name).

I started my second playthrough a few days ago and so far i'm really happy with the new patch.
NV now acts way more like it's Fallout 3, which is undoubtley a good thing. On my first playthrough i encountered more than 40!! hard freezes with all autosave features turned off. Now playing with patch 1.05 and all saving features on, i haven't had a single freeze in eighteen hours of play.. *knocks on wood* The game runs a lot smoother too, still the occasional stutter but that's no different than F3 to me..

This miracle patch really decreased the freezing issues on PS3. It's now every bit as enjoyable as F3.

Cheers to Bethesda and Obsidian!

It seems the DLCs always mess up the game. Same thing happened in FO3. I found in FO3 that its best to start a new game after the DLC and did that here. Now after the 1.05 patch I am getting more serious freezes.

Yes it is better.
Less load time in the open map. (freeze Load, stoppp, load) - not like that any more.
The quest that just glitched out on me was playable. (yes I had to restart the game but I also did it all 4 hrs faster and enjoyed it more and the game played with better flow)
I can't say that the game is now 100% or even 90%, sadly I would say it's 70% as good as Fallout 3 when I think of reliability.
But from a 1 to 10 rank, 1 being FNV before this patch and 10 being "THIS GAME IS FIXED NO PATCHES NEEDED" I give FNV a rank of 8.

I initially thought the game performance had improved but I have been proven wrong. Gun tweaks are nice but almost completly pointless if the game will run without freezing every single play session. I was enjoying my new character but was still getting freezes every few hours ... pressure buliding up from all the freezes over these last few months.

My final New vegas experience

Walking from scorpion gulch towards helios and it freezes , ok restart ps3 walking from scorpion gulch to helios and it freezes ... getting mad now so restart ps3. Walking from scorpion gulch towards helios and it freezes so now my new vegas disc is in the bin in several pieces. Thank you for the fun times in your fallout game but it is just not fun to have to restart your system so frequently. Disgusting that no other game ever crashes more than once per month yet this is a daily occurance..

Played oblivion for roughly 7 hours yesterday and it didnt freeze or stutter once ... just sayin'

Since downloading the latest patch I've had nothing but troubles. So much so, that I think that my current level 19 game is just broken. Freezes are still quite common, but that is not new...I've had, at a guess, approximately 30+ freezes on NV alone, easily double the amount that I had on F3, and I've played it only about half as much.

Currently, my main big gripes are -

- Veronica just waits for no reason. At least, I think she is waiting, she may just be frozen in time instead. She will freeze a long way behind me, then catch me up in small stages. Also, she will not respond to enemy attacks. I had to take on a group of Viper gunslingers alone, while Veronica just stood a few feet away, watching motionless. I've tried firing/rehiring, but no luck.

- Veronica is also unable to climb the hill the leads out of Red Rock Canyon towards the cazador nest, which is one of the locations for Bleed Me Dry. Inititally, she gets stuck behind a tiny rock, but even after pushing her past it she cannot climb the hill, and just runs on the spot forever. :nope:

- Also, I am 'vilified' by the Great Khans at Red Rock Canyon, despite having only just turned up. Also, everyone there is perfectly nice.

[censored] it

laggy everywhere

Freeside, near Searchlight, camp nelson and that NCR camp forlon hope also lags in the city sometimes

I was on my newest charaacter as well and it lagged more than my first character I ever did lmfao

this game is so damn buggy it's all about being lucky to play it

and yes tbh Oblivion is more stable than 3 and new vegas combined lmfao haha

but fallout 3 is a bit more stable than new vegas but still is not that good but it's better in terms of being stable but oblivion tops them both in being stable

I hope Skyrim is like Oblivion in terms of being stable

I hate tha goddamm freezing in the fallouts! but cool storys tho

Here's a few tip for smoother game play.

Restoring the file system via safe mode clears corrupted data from where files are strored this can help smooth things over,

DO NOT for anyreason overwrite a save file, Now this means you need to turn off autosave completely but the game will run much better in the long term. Now this also means you'll need to clear out old saves more often. But it runs better. A couple characters and patches ago I decided to try that bit of advice and the improvement was amazing, the following character I decied to overwirite saves for a comparison and it was much worst

If your experiencing a slow down during loading or gameplay try holding the ps button, if it can still bring up the menu then its not frozen yet. When you start experiencing massive lag try and save your game, it might take a minute or two though. Then shut down the ps3 for a couple minutes. The longer your cession the worst things get.

But here is a sad reality, little to nothing can be done to try and fix and old save. Patchs are much better and preventing problems then fixing them once they've occured.

I bought the game after the pacth 1.05, when people said the game is working, so I can't compare. The game works fine, I have over 70 hours of gameplay. I had 3 freezing issues and once the game restarted the console. I play on a Slim 250Gb PS3. Sometimes (rare) the game have framerate issues but when I see this I restart the game or the console and then the game works fine. I turn off the auto save mode and make many save files, maybe over 500. Last save file have almost 8Mb. Anyway, the game is verry good. For me is better then Fallout 3 GOTY, who had many freezing issues but a save file of 18Mb.
The bottem line is you can finish Fallout: New Vegas and enjoy it.

P.S. Sorry for my english.

As stated in other threads I have had zero crashes and zero freezes since 1.05. Before 1.05 I had literary thousands. I feel the game is (crash- and lock-wise) rock solid now. It's better than FO 3 (FO 3 still crashes tho XMB at times). It's a fantastic game now that it has finally reached release status. Only thing I wish for now is that any remaining quest-bug is fixed (for new players, I've learned to avoid them). The "makers" have a wast database of information (produced by us players) of what works and of what doesn't.

I'm still confused about the "healthiness" of the PS3 platform as such - I probably erroneously accused people of lying when they said the game worked fine on their machines - but now I have to say it works excellent on mine (I have two slims) - still I read that people have problems post 1.05. What the [censored] is going on? My conception was that if one PS3 could play a game fine - so could all PS3's. I'm confused.

Still, great work with 1.05 - you Developers proved your skill. But it was faaaaar toooooo laaate. Hope some "suites" got some cold feet from this debacle. No doubt you Devs would have pulled this off with a minor delay and made a truly great product - remembered for it's originality and complexity - it's almost infinite re-playability - instead of the worst f*cking release ever.

Nu'ff ranting. I'm finally happy with Fallout New Vegas. I'm glad I have it. Whenever I'm bored I can reliably fire up an old save and have a blast. There's not many games qualifyin for that.
