Poor Dragon Bridge - Dragon Attacks :O

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:15 pm

OK, so like for the 4 or 5 time's I've visited Dragon Bridge (usu as a fast travel waypoint to then manually ride to a quest destination) it's been attacked by a dragon 3 times. I guess you name your town "Dragon" Bridge and you're inviting trouble...or maybe it's just coming for me.

I'm always wary of fast traveling directly to unguarded settlements like Dragon Bridge, because I'm opening up the inhabitants to a firey (or frosty, or sharp-toothy) death by doing so.

I know it's meta-gamey, but if I do so and a dragon shows up, I reload and fast travel to another location like Western Watchtower outside of Whiterun first. A Dragon will usually attack there, and I can dispose of it while only risking "expendable" NPCs such as a handful of Whiterun guards.

That seems to satisfy the game's desire to spawn another dragon for a time.

Yeah, I've been lucky so far...the only useful NPC to have died from a dragon attack was the elf in Riverwood (Faendal). :\ I also lost a potential follower NPC from one of the Orc settlements (Largashbur, I think) - died from a Giant attack. :o I don't use followers so the damage has been minimal. :P

But followers give you an unlimited amount of carrying capacity, just tell them to pick anything up with a command and boom Lydia is now holding 2000 pounds of stuff and still running around as fast as normal. :o

I was actually wondering about that - it's tempting.

Anytime I've used followers I spend too much time keeping them alive...yeah, I don't like it when they die. :\

That's exactly the reason why I disabled random dragons encounter. My life changed for the better after I discovered the trick.

The Dragon Bridge only happened once I was in the area for Commander Maro (Destroy DB Quest), but last night I traveled to Winterhold College and a goddam Elder Dragon started attacking me in the middle of the conversation with Arniel Gane. It was a relatively long fight, but I'm glad no one died, like students and npc's that aren't essential...

For the most part I don't mind them (I like the bones, scales, and souls). They get annoying sometimes so I either 'park' my horse away from the fight or just flee if I don't want to be bothered.

I'm not asking how...yet...but is it possible on PS3? :P

Same here for me!
I dont know if it is something about the name of the place just temping fate..?

I too tend to get there, and immediately see that massive shadow glide over the landscape, giving me just time to park the horse and equip the flyswatter.

Just enjoy it. It's a small town and every idiot in the place comes out to watch the gigantic monster spray flames and ice and blood at everything, so it can be quite an ego boost when you've slaughtered it. "YEAH ladies, what did ya think of that??!"

Sorry, it involves using the console. I though someone successfully modded the ability to run custom script on Oblivion for PS3? Maybe there is some hope for PS3 users. At any rate, even without random dragon I was able to absorb 16 souls just by visiting the ten Dragon altars and with some non skippable dragon battles. I've collected enough scales and bones for making an a full set of armor for me and more...

 OMFG, I totally take my helmet off and walk away (literally walk) and as the villagers say their little comments, I say aloud, "Yeah...that just happened." I'm such a nerd.
"It's dead now, but where did it come from?"
"My pants...and it AIN'T dead, Ladies."

I hope they don't make the PS3 version scriptable - I'll get too lazy every time I get frustrated.

Oh, I'm sure I have enough bones/scales, but I may make multpile sets with various enchants on them. ...and I'll most likely unlock all the Thu'ums on at least one character to see what they do.
