Poor user review score on MetaCritic...

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:34 pm

I think that all bugs and issues and patches aside, just looking at the core game itself and judging it for what it can do, I'd say it's a solid 9.5 or even 10 in my eyes. It's easily one of the best games I've played yet.

I can spam 0 score reviews on Metacritic too.

This is why Metacritic svcks for it's supposed function.

Xbox and PC version are, the PS3 version is a 5 at best.

It`s not getting zeros because people are spamming the review button, it`s getting zeros because it unplayable for a large portion of the PS3`s fanbase.

I posted a review on MC, and although a 0 score was tempting, to make the overall score go lower and at a much faster rate, I kept it honest and gave it a 3. Those G4 forum mongers still can't believe it's (ex/?) betatesda fans that are giving it a low score, not Nintendo lovers.

A game that is unfinished doesn't deserve a rating higher than that of a finished game. Even the worst finished game deserves a higher rating than an unfinished game, simply on the basis that it is playable from start to finish. This of course, is just my opinion.

Agreed. Good thing Skyrim was finished though.

If you had game breaking bugs, you were part of a tiny minority.. which, with Skyrims complexity / design is totally common (in comparison to other games of the same level).

Like others have said, user reviews on Metacritic mean less than nothing. I would never trust them to be any sort of accurate measure of a game as they are often the result of trolls, [censored] and haters having a field day. Rather than people with honest, well thought out criticism or worthy praise.

Best to just ignore them if one were to ask me.

No, it's because Bethesda didn't want to lose revenue by delaying their game for release and thus released a broken game.

It's not a tiny minority on the PS3 version. Can people not read or something?

Metacritic is unreliable because Trolls could inflate the score low or high.
Funny how I see this statement so often but folk cheer when the score is good.

That's because a lot of people play the game on a crap system like the PS3. "OMG frame rate svckz."

Even though its not a multi-player game. "Da game be lags."

It had over 1000, 0 score reviews before 1am the day of it's midnight release. :shakehead:

I find the whole PS3 situation really funny. Because other than the friends I know only through Steam who have the game on PC, my IRL friends with the game have it on PS3, have put much more time into than I have, and have not had any framerate issues at all.

According to this article, 75% are suffering severe problems with Skyrim and 36% are suffering framerate bugs: http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/12/bethesda-ps3-skryim-problems/

75% is a small minority when it comes to PR spinning.

I'm not trolling. Skyrim is massive what do you think? Should they shrink the game down more and use less textures so consol players can have better frames?

I'm seeing a user review of 8.5 for xbox and 8.3 for PC.

Where is the 5.5?

The Ps3 score.

I kind of pity the Ps3.

Lot of immature people on the internet. Most comment seem to be ' The game svck because it's not what I wanted '. Little selfish little kid that believe the world owe them everything. Just ignore the immaturity and move on.
Dragon age user rating was just a complete utter joke.

The game was ready on the other platforms. There was no reason to delay PC and Xbox releases.

And imagine the complaining if PS3 was delayed and the others werent. Not really saying they aren't to blame but they were in a no-win situation.

Thats not why it`s lagging for PS3 users. It lagging due to poor memory management on bethesda`s part.

I`d rather be pissed off about having to wait than waste 60$ on a broken game.

It was obvious it was a real hate campaign going on by a lot of immature gamers. It wasn't the majority of people though as everything else shows. Most can play, most love it and we all knew there would be some glitches at release. It's just something you ride out with these kinds of games. They are enormous and even the reviewers talked about glitches but rated it highly because they know.

That's all...and that's why the user metacritic score is meaningless to me. Met a Daedric god i'd never met before tonight and I didn't go mad...what a game. ha!

You could just not play it until it gets fixed. It will be the same amount of time anyway so what's the difference?

The difference is that they might not be able to fix it, in which case I`m down 60$ and have a new paperweight.

So, if that were the case, you're saying the responsible thing for them to do would be to not release the PS3 version at all?

That would have gone over really well.

If they couldn't do it right, they shouldn't have tried. They have an obligation to release a finished and polished product, especially when they say crap like :
Yes, PS3 and 360 have reached a good place of parity….framerate, fidelity, etc. The PS3 version is getting a ton of attention

I just read that some PS3 users have better hard drives than others. More than likely the people with the faster hard drives aren't complaining.

No, people who went out of their way to purchase a SSD drive are having less problems. Which is ridiculous because of how expensive the damn things are.
