» Fri May 27, 2011 6:24 pm As you all know if ED-E dies in vault 22 (I think) when the game requires we burn off all that gas he dissapears but still registers as a companion and this stopped me from starting honest hearts.... Heres what I did to fix my problem, I'm not sure what part fixed my problem so il list everything I did after being told by (is his name Jacob?) the trader I can't go to Zion with companions.
1. Fast travel to novac .
2. While still in novac (motel room) I told cass to wait.
3. Removed items so I had 99 in total weight.
4. Went just outside novacs fence.
5. Wait for 24hrs x 13 days so wait 13x24.
6. Fast travel to cave to start honest hearts.
At some where around the 7th or 8th day of waiting I got a message saying cass had returned to where I found him (the name slips my mind) but at no point did I receive a message regarding ED-E so maybe it isn't necessary to wait 13 days but that was what I did.
I know my sequence seems an odd thing to randomly sit and try (for me) but I was bored and I couldn't think of anything else, I remembered at some point earlier in the game I had waited 7 or 8 days trying to get ED-E to re-appear after I blew him up in vault 22 (I did this on the advice from someone on xbox.com) and I got a message saying Boone had returned to his original location but ED-E stayed dead/missing. I thought it was worth another try so I did it again and I added a few more for luck (ridiculous I know) but it seems to have worked for me.
