Possible Lulzsec Hacker Detained

Post » Fri Jun 24, 2011 8:42 am

"Th Met's e-Crime unit has arrested a 19-year old alleged hacker in Essix on suspicion of involvement with network attacks and denial of service attacks.

The statement in full:

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Central e-Crime Unit (PCeU) have arrested a 19-year-old man in a pre-planned intelligence-led operation.

The arrest follows an investigation into network intrusions and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against a number of international business and intelligence agencies by what is believed to be the same hacking group.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act, and Fraud Act offences and was taken to a central London police station, where he currently remains in custody for questioning.

Searches at a residential address in Wickford, Essix, following the arrest at the premises last night, have led to the examination of a significant amount of material. These forensic examinations continue.

The PCeU was assisted by officers from Essix Police and have been working in co-operation with the FBI.

We're still waiting for confirmation of claimed LulzSec attacks on the UK census. ?"

Ah! It seems as if the troll has met his match (lol irony on my part). His punishment should be a life sentence to losing The Game, with no neutrality or winning.

Jeez. Almost too bad if they catch them, given the fantastic job they've been doing on raising awareness of the fundamentally flawed state of network security...even if they're only doing so as a byproduct of getting their jollies.

I suppose it'd be one thing if they broke in and did absolutely nothing, but they didn't. They released sensitive information so that other people with even more malicious intent could have access to it.
