Is it possible to play a cowardly Dragonborn?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:28 pm

Who says all Dragonborns have to be strong, brave dragon slayers?

From what I've seen, the only special thing about being dragonborn is the need to absorb dragon souls to keep them from returning.

Anyone can kill a dragon, anyone can shout, your just a tool used to absorb dragon souls...

So what if you played a cowardly dragonborn who would hide from dragons and let his follower and town guards kill dragons?

All you would need to do is run out after the dragon has been dealt with and absorb it's soul.

Would seem like an interesting playthrough...

I'm conjuration heavy, so my minions will be taking care of my light work (dragons)

You could that. I don't know why you'd want to run away all of the time though. There is a game to play, after all.

The way I saw one of my characters isn't cowardly exactly, but just a normal dude, who doesn't see himself as a hero, and who's finds the idea of being a hero a burden.. but like you said, he has the one thing that makes me different than a normal warrior. He take in dragon souls. Over time, I suppose he grows into the role of hero... maybe the dragons souls themselves did that to him. He consumed their souls, their strength. He wasn't the same guy any longer.

A real coward (hardcoe roleplay) doesn't go out running for dragons, but stays indoors safely with his/her mommy.

I played as a merchant who never used a weapon or cast a spell. I didn't do many quests with him though, and be became filthy rich rather quickly, but it was still different from other ways of playing.

My dragonborn won't fight dragons either. She is not a coward, but she avoids killing. (I'm a pacifist player, I hate violence.)

I actually find that it's more fun to run from Dragons and then shoot arrows at them from a distance. It just seems more believable, more real that way. Dragons should be scary, powerful and tough to take down no matter who you are.

Haha, you've never seen me play. Sometimes I've even been ashamed of my own cowardice.

In my latest playthough, my dragonborn is scared of everything. Including rats and crabs. Because it is on master difficulty and he is not allowed to level.

I might try a Flashman build. An arrogant, cowardly, bully. George MacDonald Fraser's hilarious anti hero would be fun to try.

"Flashman is an http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antihero who runs from danger or hides cowering in fear, betrays or abandons acquaintances at the slightest incentive, bullies and beats servants with gusto, beds every available woman, carries off any loot he can grab, and gambles and boozes enthusiastically. Nevertheless, through a combination of luck and cunning, he usually ends each volume acclaimed as a hero."

Uh huh I think I can get into that. ;)

I guess these two count;

My most recent argonian character is a manipulative pacifist, meaning she's not above having the enemies slaughter each other for her own benefit. Pretty exciting for a DiD run, although things are getting far too easy now that she's reached a fair level. That char is currently on break, since I've started up my dunmer.

The dunmer is to rely on a follower - healing them, armouring them, but never rushing straight into battle herself.

How do you avoid killing in a game where to do any job or quest or even taking a walk out in the wild, something`s always trying to kill you?
