You can't permanently reanimate them a la dead thrall, but otherwise, it's for as long as the spell description says.

I realize where to find the spells list, just don't know what they fall under? Just a regular reanimate spell? Just curious because it would be cool to have a saber cat as a follower

Iirc theres a mod that lets you use the permanent thrall spell on animals and other creatures it doesn't work for, that is if you have a PC copy.

I told you, they fall under the school of Conjuration, and all dead bodies can be reanimated for 60 seconds.

"dead bodies" is pretty vague, just saying. Would be great addition by Beth to be able to have an animal follower permanently for a Ranger build

That's one of the reasons I decided to give necromancy a shot. I don't care too much for raising people but its the only way to get a saber cat as a pet. Even if its just temporary.

There are dogs you can find/buy and use as companions that are actually decent in fights, perfect for a ranger character especially since the dogs are trained for hunting and fighting.

I don't know why games always do that. Its a fantasy world of wizards and dragons and the only pet you get is a dog.

Maybe not how you are hoping. They don't talk, and you can't interact with them. They groan and say kill a lot. You have to be a Master of Conjuration and do the Master Conjuration quest and then buy the tome. I think it is better to keep a regular follower and then have two thralls with you.
