Post Patch Game Strategy

First play through I went with energy weapons as they are my favorite and as most, was very underwhelmed with them until I got to the Guass Rifle. Guns were clearly the most convenient and powerful option in the early, middle and late stages. Now things are shaken up a bit, energy weapons pack more punch and are more accessible and guns have been dialed down a bit. Explosives remain a joke.

So what's the new pecking order? Have energy weapons make up enough slack to be the way to go, or do guns still reign supreme?

Has unarmed or melee changed at all?

What's your new build going to look like?

Well they did up the damage on the missile launcher and fat man although mini nukes are hard to come by. Still, I enjoy my grenade machine gun. I don't recall anything being changed for melee or unarmed. I've always loved the Guass Rifle and its the only energy weapon I use. I upped my explosives this time around to 65 since I wanted to use them more although I'm on level 26 right now. Energy, guns, and melee are at 100. Everything besides unarmed and survival are above 60/70. The only thing I changed this time around was explosives over barter.

yeah im making a new toon right now idk what to do, my last toon was guns, lockpick, speech

im thinking, barter, melee, guns, 7 points in luck so with the implant and naughty nightwear i can be at 9 and bust those casinos.

idk tho, im not exactly a vet.

I know what you mean I have tried my hardest to stay true to energy weapons on my first play through, however in the end had to give up as they just did pack the punch. With the patch I am not sure what to do! Oh well that's what makes it fun fun fun! :flamethrower:

Guns > Cowboy > Hand Loader > Lever-Action Rifles

Trail Carbine is your "Solution to almost everything". Something like a .357 revolver, or lever-action shotgun, covering the extreme low-end. Finally the Brush Gun covering the extreme high-end of the damage scale. All weapons firing custom hand loaded ammo for even more damage.

Strange that such antiquated design tech is better than modern semi-auto and energy weapons tech in many cases, but that's not the first time it's happened in a Fallout game.
