Post patch: unkillable critters

Post » Sat May 21, 2011 2:36 pm

After installing the latest patch, I appear to have 2 problems, probably related:

1. Creatures (a Young Cazador and a Bark Scorpions so far) seem to be unkillable. They go unconscious with the standard notification that companions get (e.g. "Young Cazador is unconscious"), and come back to life after a few minutes. It seems to occur when facing a group of creatures, with one of them marked as mission critical or something.

2. I'm getting random messages that " is unconscious", with no name given. Not a problem so far, just very odd.

This is in non-hardcoe mode, with no mods installed.

Anybody else seeing this?

Edit: Windows 7 64 bit, i7 2.66 GHz, 6 GB DDR3, ATI RADEON HD 4850 PCI-E 16X 1GB Video card

That happened with the first patch (280), but a second patch (285) was supposed to resolve it.

Check the properties tab for FalloutNV.exe and see which version you have. If you have 280 you may need to restart Steam to force it to get the 285 version.

Thanks, I'll check that when I can (at work now). I restarted Steam last night to get the new patch, and it seemed to install.

I'm just glad it hasn't happened with a deathclaw :o

Check the version of your FalloutNV.exe file - the latest patch is 1.2.0.285. That one supposedly fixed the invulnerable creatures glitch.

I played with it for about 2 or 3 hours last night and had no problems at all. I was even able to get rid of the d3d9.dll fix.

After several hours of creature encounters: Deathclaws, Scorpions, Ghouls, I have not found an "Essential" creature int he 265 patch.

I think it is safe to assume that your problems regarding essential enemies have been resolved by installing the latest patch. As such I shall close this thread as we're trying to reduce the stampede of similar threads that had arisen earlier ;)
