Raw meat?

You can cook food with the Survival skill. I didn't particularly mind raw meat in Fallout 3. Nothing like a little Yao Guai tartare to keep you going. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to deal with the penalties associated with eating raw meat now. Hopefully you won't need more than 10 or 15 points in Survival to cook you steak. Almost anybody can cook raw meat, and it wouldn't be very fair if you had to throw in 30+ points just to eat a cooked steak.

Yes, we already know that we can use campfires to cook food, and add more HP to that food. The higher our survival skill the better things we can cook and higher HP reward.

Though beneficial for restoring HP and (in hardcoe) offsetting starvation, eating raw meat in F:NV will typically give you minor penalties (usually STR) for a few minutes.

It's better to cook it using campfires and the Survival skill.

I wonder if any serious consideration was given to implementing game mechanics whereby eating raw meat might give you salmonella or botulism? It could have been modeled like a poison or withdrawl symptoms and only cured by stimpaks (assuming they have some anti-biotic modal) or by a doctor.

You're a survivor in the wasteland, eskimos don't need to cook their meat neither do you.

Personally, I prefer the desperate 'eat nails and crap sheds' feel to a post-apocalyptic game. Adding creature comforts takes away from the atmosphere of doom and survival.

Will we get access to cooking and etc in F:NV in normal mode? hardcoe mode is cool and all, but I am a lazy person, to much effort must be invested into HC mode for me.
