The Official NV Strategy Guide

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:03 pm

Well, I mean this Gauss Rifle was incredibly rare, right? I assumed so since OA only added one to the world. Even if it's not so much a difficult thing to maintain or an immersion-breaker, I thought that only maybe one survived both Anchorage and The Great War.
I guess I just didn't expect to run into what I thought to be a one-of-a-kind Gauss in the middle of Nevada.

Not that I'm complaining.

Well after America won at Anchorage I'm sure that they took a lot of chinese tech with them back.
And that their tech got sent to several locations, some for storage, others for research, others for testing and others for manufacturing.
In fact, I thought it was weird for the armory to only have one in O:A.

Well it would be strange to all of the sudden change it's ammo type.
The M72 Gauss rifle and the Chinese Scoped Gauss Rifle are two completely different guns.
But I do hope that M72 Gauss rifle is back with it's 2mm. :D

Why are y'all callin' it a Chinese Gauss Rifle?

Well, we know the Gauss Rifle's in, but will it be customizable like other weapons in NV?
I think I'd like an extended clip. :gun:

The rifle is featured in one of two Chinese propaganda posters within the simulation, implying that it is of neither American nor Chinese origin.

I guess I just assumed that the Chinese invented it because they were the one's using it.

Hell, in the Fallout universe who knows who makes what these days? Could be those crafty canadians.

Ill be using the wiki. Its better, its free, its faster to search and so on. The bug information alone will give it more value than the official guide.

Theres only one of the various unique weapons in the game. Granted it was a puppy to keep repaired untill you go into space to get the alien epoxy or use the Gary exploit to get the alaska version

The other thread(s) likely gets locked, so I'll just repost this here...

The armor with that skull ?helmet? and lightbulbs doesn't exactly please the eye. Everything else looks good though.

What's with the crank behind the clip?

"Cover us, buddy. You've got the only wounded-up positron shooter. [Fry quivers behind a rock as balls bounce towards him. He screams, blasts a hole in the ground and hides in it. The balls bounce past.] Fry, you emu-bellied coward!"

Futurama War Is the H-Word

To bad I can't find a video clip because that crank reminds me of that episode. It even made a jack-in-the-box sound while winding it up.

What was with that skull hat? Was the respirator part of the armor, or was it a separate eyewear item like glasses or a ghoul mask? Seems like it would make any non-Enclave helmet look really really stupid because of clipping and whatnot.

Nice to see the Gauss in. NV is adding all the stuff that Fallout 3 made people buy with DLC.

The armor looks like it has those Vacuum Tubes similar to the Tesla Armor in FO3, but it has 6 instead of 2 on the shoulder.

Unless some Wiki and other various online strategy guide authors directly plagiarize from the official Strategy Guide it will take a few weeks, maybe a month before you can see anything comprehensive online, but for the most part it's good to play on your own and only refer to outside help if you are really stuck.

HolymotherF!

Looking at some of the prices of the FO3 Collector's Edition guide, it may be worth buying it just for purposes on investment:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0761559973/sr=/qid=/ref=olp_tab_new?ie=UTF8&coliid=&me=&qid=&sr=&seller=&colid=&condition=new

The GOTY CE Guide is worth even more. O.o

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0307466582/sr=/qid=/ref=olp_tab_new?ie=UTF8&coliid=&me=&qid=&sr=&seller=&colid=&condition=new

Though if it's in my library, I'll probably break the shrink wrap and crack the spine, putting it in the "Used" category. I'm definitely interested on the guide's hardcoe build suggestions...

I like getting all the "rules" in terms of stat charts, weapon guides, etc... All the stuff that used to be in the user manual.

Yeah, a comprehensive breakdown of how DT was implemented would be welcome. I'd also like to see the companion guide. My only fear is that I'd run into spoilers and I'll maybe lean too heavily on it if the guide were in my hands...

I wouldn't use it much during the first play-thru.... More for finding all the "little" things I've missed when later I want to 'clear' the game.
