The Official NV Strategy Guide

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 4:09 am

News on the Fallout NV Strategy Guide has been posted:

http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/09/14/fallout-new-vegas-official-strategy-guide-blog-new-vegas-new-guide/

I usually don't purchase these guides because the various wikis out there do a fairly good job at posting the pertinent information, however this particular guide seems to have the "scoop" on important stuff like DT and crafting and a bunch more stuff. I found the "Gary 666" archetype particularly interesting...

Yeah and an Enclave-esque armor with a half-dozen Tesla-like tubes sticking out of it...

That ram skull is wierding me out. What is that, Obsidian? Is it part of the new PA or is it just a random hat you find in the game?

Doesnt matter if you bought some 100 dollar version with a mini model of The Strip they'd still sell it seperate.

Well it would be strange to all of the sudden change it's ammo type.
The M72 Gauss rifle and the Chinese Scoped Gauss Rifle are two completely different guns.
But I do hope that M72 Gauss rifle is back with it's 2mm. :D

Definitely getting the Hardcover version! I just Love these strategy guides, and not because I use them actively when playing the game. They come in handy later-on down the road, or even years later when I replay and need to find something obscure. Also handy for modding in familiarizing me with aspects of the game that I'm sure to miss.

I still have my Oblivion and Fallout3 guides, I plan to keep them forever. :fallout:

This colossal Training chapter concludes with a look-see at the different Followers you can find. Not only are their locations listed, but their Perks, associated Quests, strengths, weaknesses, partners, and how best to “combo” them with a character style, along with some tried and tested general strategies for crucial companionship. Training concludes with a look at the different Collectibles in the Mojave Wasteland, which range from Caravan Cards to Hollowed-Out Rocks, Legion Ears to Skill Magazines. This is the perfect start to a comprehensive guide.

I'll maybe wait a month or two until I purchase the guide, otherwise my face will be buried in the guide instead of discovering stuff on my own in the game... =p

Fair enough. Maybe they will have both the German M72 Gauss rifle, which uses 2mm EC magazines containing both batteries and ammunition. I doubt it :(. Might never see it again. Chinese MEC Gauss Minigun would be awesome.

Agreed. I'd like hope there will be one laying around for me, so I don't have to PO the casino staff looting her for it, though. I think I'd like to see more int the way of head gear and face-coverings in the game. Like 666's half-face gas mask.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Gauss Rifle, though. Paragon, I loved it in FO3 just as much as you did, but will it really fit in NV? After all, the only one ever found was after OA, and that was the ONLY one you ever saw. (w/o exploiting gary23.)

Well that is probably explained by Fallout Logic.
Meaning no explanation at all.
It's there cause it's there. :P

Hm, could you clarify? Do mean immersion-breaker? Or do you mean repair issues or low availability?

All the more reason the Devs should have just brought back the M72 Gauss Rifle. It's rare and expensive in FO2 but there is more then one. :D

Well, I mean this Gauss Rifle was incredibly rare, right? I assumed so since OA only added one to the world. Even if it's not so much a difficult thing to maintain or an immersion-breaker, I thought that only maybe one survived both Anchorage and The Great War.
I guess I just didn't expect to run into what I thought to be a one-of-a-kind Gauss in the middle of Nevada.

Not that I'm complaining.

Oh I understand you now
Thank you for clarifying
