What causes the DLC bug? : Fallout: New Vegas

I can reproduce this error and it was not around the time I completed "Come Fly With Me", or raided Vault 3.

My error occurs much later in the game, and is triggered by me entering L2 of the BoS bunker and killing the NPC's there (for a mission). Once I have done that, and exit the bunker my saves are no longer readable and I get the DLC error.

I can carry on playing as long as I don't go back into that area and slay the folks there.....so far....

I have a theroy.
1. that you can enter vault 3 before doing come fly with me.
2. that this is cause because of a bug with the rebreathe stay a quest item instead of being a normal item and that entering the vault for some reason may cause this item to become lost to the memory which prompts the missing content, and since it was in your inventory and no longer there if you hit yes it shows the memory attachment problem.
3. people pls help me to confirm this i cant confirm it becaus i cannot get rid of the rebreather which is one of the main thing that changes in the game but is optional meaning you can complete come fly with me without getting the rebreather. which would explain why some people may experince this glitch and not others.
4. i say this because i have entered vault 3 before doing come fly with me and it didnt corrupt my saves. but after completing come fly with me when i entered the vault i corrupts my saves.

I got the DLC bug when i was sneeking in the BoS bunker because i wanted to steel and fix BoS armor for boone so he can wear it

are they planning on fixing this bug? i'm not going to play another 20 hours of the game to get back to where i am. they should seriously compensate customers for this. this is a terrible bug the test team should have found.

Last thing I remember doing before i got this dlc bug was trying to take the lonesomedrifters mysterious magnum.

Now i tried to just cripple his arm so he would drop it but i rememberd i forgot to tell boone to wait at a far location....so he just shot the drifter in the head and killed him.
when i tried loading back it said the game was corrupt and well you kknow the story.

Now thinking about it maybe the drifters head went into the bill board behind him causing the game to mess up... something of that nature...

Seems you have the same issue as me, entering L2 of BoS bunker breaks your game, svcks
