Both company's messed up. But you know what, we did too. How many people on the boards here bought elderscrollsIV? Kotor II? Fallout3? Alpha Protocol? All the games I mentioned had a pool of bad and even game breaking bugs. Manny of them even butchered in playing a good story. I hate these bugs and glitches, their uncalled for. But every time I buy a product from Bethesda or Obsidian, I am fully aware of how bad they can get with testing and unresponsive costumer support
I owned all the games you mention and had no major issues with any of them, however i realise that i could have been just plain lucky.
But your point of having to be aware of problems from these companies, basically reverts back to the old adage 'buyer beware'.
But the whole point of consumer laws is to protect people from unscrupulous companies who take that attitude and its ridiculous that this issue has'nt been taken up by some sort of goverment body or trading standards.
Software companies have become lazy due to the internet. Release now, reap rewards, fix later, has become their mantra.
But i have a different one which says,
when i buy a game, i expect to be able to play it, fault free, immediateley.
